It's the biggest no-brainer of the week in football for me, Virgil Van Dijk or Leonardo Bonucci at roughly the same price?
According to various UK reports in recent days, Chelsea have missed out on the signing of Virgil Van Dijk and I am heartbroken! Well, that's what the press would have you believe as Liverpool rejoice at the fact that he has made a decision to turn us down! Liverpool you can have him as we would rather sign who many people class to be one of the worlds top defenders instead.
So to Leonardo Bonucci and it seems that Antonio Conte has demanded a reunion with his former player and the man who has been at the heart of the Juventus success story in recent years. Serie A titles galore and cup wins, Bonucci has won it all apart from the Champions League and defeat on Saturday in Cardiff against Real Madrid could be the catalyst for the defender to decide that it's time to move on.
With John Terry leaving the club this summer it's important that Antonio Conte recruits the right player, a leader and someone with an excellent reputation in the game. As I said, Leonardo Bonucci is regarded by many as the best there is in the game and it would be an excellent and welcome addition to our club if Chelsea manage to convince Juventus to part company with him for a fee of around £48m.
If that was to be the case, you would have to imagine that negotiations with Conte would become straight forward with the two having worked together in Turin.
Could Chelsea pull off a major signing this summer by convincing Leonardo Bonucci to sign ? Let's hope so!
What do you think of a possible deal?
I'm sorry but however you say it van djik is already a top top defender and could be or become better than bonucci. Just watch any of his games, also he's got 5 years on bonucci so he could be at Chelsea for many more years if he came. But anyway that's my opinion.
ReplyDeleteVan Djik has been excellent and probably still is but his injury, or more importantly his recovery from it, is as yet unknown. Didn't we once pay £50m for someone in a similar situation? I can't remember how that worked out.......
ReplyDeleteVirgil van Dijk every day of the week. Bonucci is not EPL proven, is 30 already, has weaknesses like aerial battles and his stats are inferior to van dijk by a good margin. The leader van Dijk is shaping up to be the next (improved)Vincent kompany. So..
ReplyDeleteI ask you again, who would you rather have?
