Romelu Lukaku has agreed personal terms with Chelsea to make his long-awaited return to Stamford Bridge and a deal with Everton is almost done.
It's a deal that has been in the pipeline for what seems like forever but it now seems, after quotes from the player himself, that Chelsea have almost got their man for a fee of around £80m.
It could be a signing that splits the supporters opinions right down the middle this summer but you have to give Chelsea credit for not wasting any time at all looking to bolster their attacking options for next season.
So what of the comments made by Lukaku this week? When asked of the latest of his future he responded by saying:
"I know what’s happening, but I can’t tell you anything more. I know what’s happening. I know what’s happening, but I will leave the talks to my agent.”
The most important thing is: I want to win trophies. We are now talking to the club. As for the rest… I’m looking ahead. What I would like most to play in the Champions League and try to win the Premier League once. Or better: a few times. That would be the most beautiful thing.
That’s important for my progress as a player. I don’t want to stay at the same level. I want to improve and I know where I want to do that.
We’ll see what happens.”- Source: The Independent.
As we know Lukaku is a massive Chelsea fan and his hero was Didier Drogba who he believes he could emulate over time here at Chelsea if he was ever given a real chance to do so.
I have said many times that I believe that he is far from being the finished article up top but you cannot deny his impressive goal scoring record in the Premier League. If we can add a bit more power, to improve his aerial ability and to ensure he uses his strength in the right way such as Drogba used to do and Diego Costa now, he could become unplayable.
The whole situation with our strike force seems to be becoming clearer with the news that Diego Costa has been told to find a new club and Michy Batshuayi doesn't want a repeat of this season on the Chelsea bench. Alvaro Morata has reportedly still has his heart set on a move to Chelsea so we could see BOTH coming in if Costa and Batshuayi are sold.
It seems like it's only a matter of days before a deal is to be announced for the big Belgian striker and he makes his Chelsea return. What do you think?
Total waste of money........he is a lazy striker and I personally feel that Morata/Belotti would be a better option.
ReplyDeletewaste money for this type of striker.very lazy..he mostly scored when faces "low level club".better find others striker with this amount of money..
DeleteEnter your comment...diego costa must
ReplyDeleteEnter your comment...diego costa must go from chelsea we need lukaku
ReplyDeleteWaste of money. He's lazy and not aggressive enough like DD&DC
ReplyDeletelukaku is a good striker he is as good as suarez of bacelona and a good finisher so thy should go for him & sign him also give him a chance to improve.
ReplyDeleteLukaku is not the finished article! Everyone agrees on that! He has two major weaknesses:
ReplyDelete1) Technical - his first touches are poor and he cannot run with the ball at his feet at high speed because of his less than great technical skills
2) Psychological - It's the only way one can explain the fact that he never turns up in big games! He's always been disappointing and absent in almost all big games!
So, is he a good signing for Chelsea?
The answer is: It depends on how much Conte can work with him and improve him as a player! If Conte believes that, then yes, Lukaku can be an excellent signing! Very expensive but good signing!
Let's not forget that..."thanks" to Mourinho we got rid of Lukaku and De Bruyne and we didn't even include a buy-back clause or a sell-on fee as any properly run club would do!
Totally agree with you...finally somebody who knows what his talking about...Lukaku in my opinion would be the best replacement for Costa...morata,mbappe and even aubeyang might be a Fernando Torres situation all over again

DeleteNever understood people's hatred for Lukaku. We love Costa, who has an attitude and constantly looks for a move away. Yet with Lukaku, at a time where he was a 20 year old who wanted to better himself as he wasn't first choice at Chelsea with Drogba, Torres, Eto'o and other expensive strikers, he left to fulfil ambitions and prove a point. With that, he is just second behind Aguero in the scoring charts in the PL since the 2012/13 season. Not a bad record for someone who has played in teams like Everton and WBA.
ReplyDeleteHe's just 24 years old. Will walk into the team with Costa going. Scored 25 PL goals last season. Many say he goes missing in big games, which may be fairly true but he's at Everton, a team on the fringes of the top 6. Against the big boys, none of the Everton team perform, and he needs that service. Can't do it all on his own. He will now have Fabregas, Pedro, Hazard and Willian to supply him. Not to mention another few signings we may make.
Give him a break. I'll welcome him, as I would any player. He could become a world beater with a manager like Conte. He's still young and his best years are ahead of him. I'd personally love to see Lukaku back in a Chelsea shirt.
Lukaku; a legend in his own mind. Overrated with an inflated ego and bad attitude. £80m?.......No thanks!
ReplyDeleteThat's a welcoming news. He has matured over the years to take the challenge in that position for Chelsea. Comparing him to Diago Costa; both have strength, dribbling skills but Lukaku is better than Costa in emotional control.
ReplyDeleteLukaku is good but the money is too much please
ReplyDeleteWith all good players supplying him a ball all round at Chelsea. He will make a finished article up top. All we need is to support him abundantly. About transfer fee: I still believe the fee is too much and certainly Chelsea have to bargain it low a bit. Otherwise, I strongly believe he will make good signing to Chelsea. #welcome back Lukaku#

ReplyDeleteI personally thing Lukaku is a wise buy. We have seen his development over the years. Quite remarkable. Attitude wise, I think he's far better than Costa. Lukaku is dying to play for us and yet Costa is dying to go back to Madrid. I have no sympathy for Costa because he really does not want to at Chelsea. Let him go.
