If these reports are true, then it's another disastrous transfer window for Chelsea which seems to have been the case for the third summer running. Serious questions need to be asked of Michael Emenalo and the Chelsea board.
After a victorious season winning the Premier League, Chelsea should have taken the step forward to recruit a number of players to strengthen our squad, just as we should have done three seasons ago having won the Premier League title under Jose Mourinho. Back then we didn't, we hesitated and did not sign our prime targets and it seems as though THREE of Antonio Conte's prime targets have rejected the opportunity to come to West London this time around.
First we missed out on Romelu Lukaku who decided (with his agent's help to the tune of £12m in his own pocket) to sign for Manchester United who came SIXTH last season. With reports that Antonio Conte had personally contacted the Belgian striker throughout the summer, the club could not follow up and get the deal done and we lost out.
Now, Alex Sandro who had seemed to have his heart set on a record breaking £60m move to become the worlds most expensive defender and sign for Chelsea, has now had a change of mind and his more than happy to sign a new deal at Juventus to remain in Italy.
For me personally, I wouldn't pay anywhere near that amount of money for him as he didn't impress me that much last season. I am sure there are other options available at left back to challenge Marcos Alonso for the regular starting place. Players like Ryan Bertrand or Ryan Cresswell from West Ham would be cheaper alternatives with both having Premier League experience.
However, if the initial reports are true and Conte had made him a prime target then who I am to judge the manager who came here and made a massive impact last season.
As for Alvaro Morata? Now that for me would be a massive blow especially for Conte himself who had originally signed him for Juventus in the first place. As we have seen and as I had posted two days ago, Morata would be next in line following in the footsteps of Didier Drogba and Diego Costa leading our line.
OK, it seems that Chelsea's (or should we Michael Emenalo's) preferred target was Lukaku this summer with Morata looking like joining Manchester United. If reports are to be believed then United could not agree a fee for Morata so turned their focus to Lukaku and impressively, got the deal done with no messing about or hesitation.
So having missed out on Lukaku, Chelsea have turned their focus to Alvaro Morata and it looked like he was keen to come to Chelsea. However, its being reported now that having held talks with Real Madrid, Morata is now fully focused and committed to challenge Karim Benzema for the starting spot in the Spanish capital this season, rejecting the opportunity to sign for Antonio Conte for a second time.
No words can describe the frustration for us as Chelsea fans and most importantly of all, for Antonio Conte if this is true with both players. As I said, serious questions need to be asked!
emenalo out!!
ReplyDeleteThe real problem Chelsea facing Chelsea is that Michael Emenalo doesn't know his responsibility as sporting director. If this that problem is solve, chelsea will not be missing out on signing key players.
ReplyDeleteGo after Belotti....much better fit than Morata.
ReplyDeleteShame about Sandro, he's a class player, you cant compare him to Creswell and Bertrand, he's CL level and they arent.
I agree regarding the board....we have been made to look stupid by Jose and it looks like continuing through the window.
I think Bertrand is much preferable then Sandro because he do understand us more then any other players.
ReplyDeleteIt is much more of performing in accordance to the managers tatics than understanding a team history and tatics philosophy.....because philosophy changes when a manager is changed...so for me,it is alex sandro
ReplyDeleteWe've had "player power" rear it's ugly head at least three times at our club (probably more often but to a lesser extent so overlooked by the press), each time Emanalo has been at the centre of it and each time the manager has departed. Add to that his almost continuous appalling performance in the transfer market (supposedly his main function and area of expertise) and you have to wonder just how difficult he makes life for the manager at any given time.
ReplyDeletePerhaps if Conte walks before the job becomes untenable yet again and his reputation is damaged, then Abramovich may finally wake up and smell the coffee, but I doubt it and what a price to pay anyway.
Emanalo (and Avram Grant) has a lot to answer for but answer he wont. I've been going on about this for so many years that I'm getting on my own nerves. I really have to stop now, no more, never, the end, honest.......the b'stard!
And now we're "finalising" a £40m deal for Bakayoko who's had knee surgery and wont make the start of the season (there has to be a "Yoko oh no" joke in there somewhere) and sold Chalobah to Watford.......Cosmic!
DeleteI believe that Chelsea and their board don't know what they are doing they always gamble to buy players after they won epl and they would be punish for that this season.
ReplyDeleteOh please. Most of the time you are whining about these matters. A proper definition of the pampered chels fan would be you.
ReplyDeleteChelsea should be promoting their young player's. Solanke to Liverpool big mistake

ReplyDeleteMassa this Chelsea board and sporting director Michael Emenalo will make CFC suffer this season, I bet you we can't compete with the big guys in the English premiership like Mancity and co. Now in Europe too we can't do anything in the champions league unless something astonishing and miraculous happens for us Chelsea fc. Antoine Conte will be a very sad man.
ReplyDeleteEven if I say anything, does it count? All these Chelsea board are so frustrating and they knew Chelsea fans are not happy but they won't do anything 😈😈
ReplyDeleteGuy's you are missing the point. This same Emenalo signed Lukaku that Jose sold, he signed Mata that Jose sold, signed de Bruyne that Jose sold, now all of a sudden his bad? Really? Abramovich has been owner for over a decade now. He has seen alot of things at the top, i don't see him spending the kind of cash we saw in the early days.
ReplyDeleteAbramovich was the richest man in Russia when he acquired the club, he was top 20 in the world. Currently his not even in the top 100. Truth is the man doesn't have that sort of cash to throw around anymore.
ManUtd is desperate for success, they will do almost anything to get it. Mancity has not had consistent success as Chelsea has had. I don't see Liverpool going on make any panic buys, because the market as Rafa said is crazy for English teams, players sum inflated for no just reason. I believe Chelsea fans should take a chill pill and evaluate what we got. To me still far better than any other team, maybe apart from Mancity.
Just to add, Spurs have not even signed anybody, i don't see their fans shouting and whining about anything
