Official Matt Miazga signs for Chelsea and he cannot wait to get started!

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Matt Miazga, the big 6ft 4in USA International centre back for a fee of around £3.5m and the player himself cannot wait to get started.

Many of us had not heard much of the 20 year-old defender ahead of the story breaking that Chelsea were about to sign him but he was held in high regard by the New York Red Bulls and impressed last season.

Speaking to the Official Chelsea Website, Miazga said:

‘I am very happy to sign for Chelsea, a world-famous club with a reputation for major success. I am delighted to be in the Premier League, the best league in the world, and can’t wait to meet my team-mates and get going. 

‘I am still at the beginning of my career but I believe this is the place to develop and learn from some of the best players in the world.’

Without question he will learn and develop his game here but as I posted previously, I wonder if he will be involved between now and the end of the season if Gary Cahill forces his way out of the club before the transfer deadline closes? Hopefully Cahill stays and Miazga comes in as a squad player learning from the likes of Cahill and JT on a daily basis.

Let's hope he will not suffer the same fate here as Papa Djilobodji!
