Last season Jose Mourinho had claimed there was a "campaign" against Chelsea after watching numerous decisions go against us. Ahead of the new season, he has a message for the officials!
We all watched and saw the decisions that went against Chelsea that infuriated the manager. One in particular was the foul on Cesc Fabregas at Southampton in the box which was a nailed on penalty. It was at that point the manager claimed there was a campaign against us and as a result, Mourinho was fined by the FA.
Ahead of the upcoming season, Jose was asked of the issues he has had with the FA and his thoughts ahead of the new season and he responded in true fashion by saying:
"I will be the same as always. Understanding the very difficult job they have, having lots of respect and being emotional as always because that’s my way.
I will accept mistakes - but not accepting of a lot of mistakes. Mistakes are a part of the game but a lot of mistakes are not. I’m emotional and this game doesn’t allow us to make lots of mistakes because we are punished for that.”
I don’t think there is a campaign. The words were the only thing I regret. It was just an accumulation of mistakes. Penalty at Southampton, Matic, etc.
Many of the guys, I like their approach to the game. They want to be positive and want to have a good relationship with the players.
I go many times to the dressing room and you can feel good relations between the referees and the captains. They want to co-operate and I think everything goes quite well.
But when there is an accumulation of mistakes like we had last season I’m sorry, I find it difficult to accept.”
Excellent from the manager and spot on. I love the fact that he challenges for decisions that we see and claim for in the stands, the same reaction at the same time.
I actually think that what he has said has already put pressure on the Referees this season because if the same mistakes are being made over and over again, they should be punished and struck off the list or demoted.
It's nice to see that the manager is already up and at the officials knowing that the FA would have to sit up and take notice of his comments ahead of the season. Can they fine him before he season has already started?
Jose's interviews after games are box office and everyone listens to him even if you aren't a Chelsea fan. I am looking forward to his run in's with the FA and the famous quote "I cannot say anything or I will be punished" on numerous occasions this season!
What do you think of what Jose has said here? Is he right or do you disagree?
