It's the story that just will not go away and has taken a twist after Real Madrid fans attacked his car after a poor performance in El Classico last weekend as Real lost to Barcelona. Gareth Bale is again being linked with a move this summer to Chelsea.

Reports state that Chelsea are willing to meet the £75m release clause in his contract and despite the player insisting that he wants to stay in Madrid, the same report states that the Spanish giants would be happy for him to leave.

Now in my opinion, you always hear rumours and think that it's pure paper talk with no substance but you cannot help but notice the torrid time Bale is having this season. Let's face it, he had alot to live up to after his first season but has come nowhere near those levels this time around and the fans have turned on him.

It's almost as if he has lost his confidence (despite scoring twice for Wales this weekend) out there and the reaction from the fans has really got to him. Now, with his car being attacked after the game last week, you have to take these reports with real substance thinking that there COULD be something there that is more than just speculation.

So what of Bale to Chelsea and do we think he would be the perfect fit? Well, I do. Playing on the opposite side to Eden Hazard, Bale would provide Chelsea with balance and he would be more than happy to switch sides and come inside if need be.

Yes we have Willian but he is more of a number ten if we are honest but has willingly played out wide to be a part of Jose Mourinho's team.

We also have Juan Cuadrado who is waiting patiently for a start in a game or just regular football to settle into life in our country and the Premier League.

Would you play Gareth Bale ahead of those two in that other wide area? I believe you would provided Bale was willing to work hard without the ball because that is my only major concern. He doesn't do it for Real Madrid so you would have to question whether or not he would be prepared to do it for Chelsea?

Juan Mata and Kevin De Bruyne are perfect examples of what could happen to a play who isn't prepared to put a shift in defensively or at least enough in a game to please the manager so that also has to be a concern for Mourinho.

However, Gareth Bale has proven quality both here and in La Liga and we have all seen what he is capable of. With lightening speed, assists and goals more or less guaranteed I am asking you the Chelsea fan reading this the following question:
Should Chelsea pay the £75m release clause to sign Gareth Bale this summer and why?
