We have woken to news confirmed on the Chelsea Website that Fernando Torres will make his two-year loan to AC Milan and permanent deal on January 5th. It's believed that he will then sign for Atletico Madrid on loan for the remainder of the season.
First and foremost good luck to him. Secondly, it's a very strange situation to say the least and you have to question as to why Atletico Madrid never made a move for him back in the summer, as we had often heard Fernando speak of his desire to finish his career at his home town club?
I will be interested to hear details about the arrangement with AC Milan and exactly how much money will be handed over to sign Torres. Without question Chelsea would have taken a massive hit on the £50m they signed him for and I guess now it's a case of getting his wages off of our books!
I love Torres and the fact that he always tried his best here. Many people will complain and criticise his performances and the return he gave the club after the amount of money we paid to get him.
Before you do, I want you all to look at the situation with Diego Costa at Chelsea now and just how well he has settled in. That's because he is a very different striker compared to Torres and Costa fits in with our playing style perfectly.
I have explained in great detail on numerous occasions the reasons that I believe Fernando Torres was NEVER going to fit in at Chelsea so make sure you check out a couple of previous posts I had written here and here.
Despite all of his problems and his battles with form at Chelsea, he still made an important contribution and scored important goals. Here is a post with EVERY SINGLE one of his goals he scored in the three years he was here including this one that we will NEVER EVER forget!
Thank you Fernando Torres for giving it your all in a Chelsea shirt. All the best for the future!
