Chelsea progressed into the Carling Cup Semi Finals last night with a 3-1 victory over Championship side Derby County with goals from Eden Hazard, Filipe Luis and Andre Schurrle. It was a solid, professional job from Chelsea!

Games such as these are always potential banana skins and if we didn't have the right approach, we would have been in trouble. The IPro Stadium was a sell out, the home fans were right up for the game and created a fantastic atmosphere so we needed to be on song. Thankfully, we were and but for a ten minute period in the second half, we looked more than comfortable.

Jose made some changes to the side that faced Hull on Saturday with Kurt Zouma, Cesar Azpilicueta, Cesc Fabregas, Andre Schurrle and Didier Drogba coming in. Fabregas would play in the number ten role in front of Matic and Mikel and it comes as no surprise that he was man of the match once again.

Fabregas picked up yet another assist, this time for Eden Hazard who latched onto some sloppy play from Derby to come inside and fire the ball into the bottom corner to make it 1-0.

Filipe Luis scored his first Chelsea goal with a stunning free kick to make it 2-0 in the second half, giving the goalkeeper no chance. It was great to see everyone congratulate him afterwards.

Our third and final goal from Andre Schurrle came after Fabregas had nutmegged his opponent in midfield and played in Loic Remy (On for the injured Drogba) and his shot was parried by the keeper for Schurrle to follow up and kill the game late on.

Derby scored earlier in the game with a well taken effort from outside the box giving Petr Cech no chance.

Worryingly, Kurt Zouma was stretched off after being caught in the face by Petr Cech's shoulder as the big goalkeeper came out to punch a cross clear of our goal. It seems that he is OK but it didn't look good as the game was delayed by almost eight minutes at the end of the first half. Branislav Ivanovic came on and replaced him.

There were plenty of positives. Fabregas pulling the strings in midfield, Hazard scored again, Filipe Luis got his first for the club and despite not having the best game, Andre Schurrle scored again!

So we are through to tonight's semi final draw with Sheffield United, Bournemouth, Liverpool, Tottenham or Newcastle to play. I know who I want!
