Sitting at the top of the Premier League, with the Champions League just around the corner, the next eight games Chelsea face could make or break our season.
There is so much being made of the title race and the remaining games Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham have to play. Although Chelsea do not have to worst run in, we still have to face the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton at home and a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool.
In addition to those games, we have to face Didier Drogba's Galatasaray next week in Istanbul with the return leg at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday 18th March.
Jose Mourinho has stated that his players enjoy the pressure of the big games and that we wants them to get used to playing in that environment as a collective squad. They have little choice now as we move towards what people like to refer to the "business end" of the season.
The next eight games Chelsea face in full are as follows:
Everton (H) Sat 22nd Feb - Premier League
Galatasaray (A) Weds 26th Feb - Champions League
Fulham (A) Sat 1st March - Premier League
Tottenham (H) Sat 8th March - Premier League
Aston Villa (A) Sat 15th March - Premier League
Galatasaray (H) Tues 18th March - Champions League
Arsenal (H) Sat 22nd March - Premier League
Crystal Palace (H) Sat 29th March - Premier League
Forget the big games coming up, it's the games against the so-called lesser teams such as Fulham, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace that are just as important in my view. In recent weeks we have seen us drop FOUR points against West Ham and West Brom and more results like that could ultimately cost us!
It's a time for big players to rise the big occasions once again just as we did in the League against Manchester City. We need players to stand up and be counted if we are to have a chance this season.
We cannot afford any performances like the one we watched last weekend in the FA Cup!
Let's hope we can come through these games and find ourselves in the same position!
