I have spent most of the day on here catching up with bits and pieces that had been said in recent weeks leading up to the Champions League final and in this post I want to concentrate on Bobby Di Matteo's comments at the Player of the Year awards night last week.
People outside of the club would have just taken what he said with a pinch of salt, but for Chelsea players and supporters it was important to listen. To me, it was an example of his methods with the players ever since he took over from AVB.
He said:
Remember the days of Mourinho and what the players said about him when he was here?. The likes of Drogba, Lampard, JT and Petr Cech all have spoken of the belief that Jose would install into the players as individuals and then as a team and build on it from there. For me, Di Matteo is doing the exact same thing!.
Now for us as supporters it may have taken us a while for the fact that we knocked Barcelona out of the Champions League, to sink in but imagine what it must have been like for the players.
Di Matteo has used that night last week to put into context what they had achieved and took it a step further. Why should we fear anyone if we can do that Barcelona?
There are many, many factors that will all come into play on Saturday for that 90 minutes with the world watching but one of them is essential and that's belief.
Judging by Di Matteo's comments, Chelsea WILL have that in abundance on Saturday and that could be key to winning the game!

"If you manage to go through two legs against Barcelona, I think then you can beat anybody in European football. They're supposed to be the best team and I think we have a fantastic group of players with tremendous quality and belief.(Source)
