AVB on TORRES: Right and wrong in my opinion.

I am surprised that AVB has said that he believes the arrival of Juan Mata has had nothing to do with the return to form of Fernando Torres. When he was asked about it he said the following:
"[It has] Nothing to do with it, in my opinion. We don't add in terms of nationalities for every player, for people to get involved socially outside of the pitch. We just add in terms of quality and talent.I think it's plain to see that Mata and Meireles have had an impact on Torres but I do agree to a point with AVB about what he is trying to do here.
Eventually they got to know each other a little bit better now and of course they share social behaviour. It's nothing new that the French go more with the French people or the French-speaking people, and the Spanish and the Portuguese is the same.
But it's not what we're looking for. What we're looking for is inter-relationships in the pitch and we hope for them to establish not only with a certain companion but with every single companion, with no kinds of bias. That's all we're looking for a team performance...not really any kind of double relationship".
For example, the fact that Torres knows Meireles recently from their time at Liverpool and Mata through the Spanish national side helps him of course. When he first came here, he only had Yossi Benayoun for company really and found it difficult. He was made into a £50m scapegoat!
I don't think the way we played last season helped Torres at all. I posted a rant back then about how we will never get the best out of him unless we play to his strengths and only now this season, are we doing so.
Torres knows that when Mata and Meireles have the ball in space they will look for him to make a run and play him in and that is such a massive difference from last season.
We also have to remember is that Torres had complete rest in the summer, came back injury free for pre season and had a whole pre season with the players which helps him settle down here in those four weeks than he probably did the whole of last season!
So to sum up, I agree with AVB that it's not just Mata who has helped turn Torres' form round but I disagree that he hasn't played a part in it at all!
I'm looking forward to Torres making his return from suspension for the Arsenal at the end of the month! He has been different class already this season and will get better and better!
What do you think?. How big a part has the arrivals of Mata and Meireles played in Torres' form?
