The Chelsea Daily Drivel is a daily update of all the stories concerning our club, the rumours, the opinions and more....
So here is the latest from around the web on Tuesday 1st June 2010....
After recent speculation the Mirror has reported that it looks like Ashley Cole will be staying at Chelsea. A "senior Chelsea Source" has been quoted as saying:
“Ashley is going absolutely nowhere and he has notified the club he has no intention of seeking a move. He remains eternally grateful for the support he received from people at the club including owner Roman Abramovich.”
Following on from that article, The Guardian has reported that Jose Mourinho has rejected the idea that Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard will follow him to Real Madrid this summer. This is something I have written about previously on here. Jose spoke of these two in his Press Conference at the Bernabau as he took over at the weekend. He said:
"Every word, [costs] €1m more. Ten words, €10m. So, we should not talk about players. The club is happy with the basic squad from last year and so am I. We don't need enormous or dramatic changes. We need three or four players for the coach to have a team that can adapt to his ideas. It is the same old story. It is very easy to connect me or my club with ex-players because everyone knows the kind of relationship I had with those players – Maicon, Lampard or Ashley Cole. Because I always establish deep relationships with my players it is easy to put their names in the papers."
The Mail Online has reported that Chelsea are on red alert after Zlatan Ibrahimovic's agent has opened the door to a move to the Premiership.
His agent said:
"Ibrahimovic has never thought that Barca will be his last club, he is like Mourinho, and if you can win everything with Barca you need a new challenge. English football may be of interest, because it would be a great test. Everything depends on the club."
Another possible signing from out of the blue was revealed this weekend in The Sun as they claimed that Chelsea are moving in to sign Darijo Srna. Srna can play as a right wing back or in midfield and its being reported that a 14 Million pound fee could be agreed. Srna himself has been quoted in the article as saying:
"The deal is not done yet. I must get together with the Shakhtar president as we cannot discuss such matters over the phone."
The Mail Online has followed up on the recent speculation on Yaya Toure's future at Barcelona and have claimed that he is holding out for a move to Chelsea. Its reported that Chelsea, United, Arsenal and Man City are interested but he would prefer a move to Chelsea. Its reported that Barcelona are looking for a fee of 20 Million.
One of the most disturbing stories that has been doing the rounds this past couple of days is that we are being heavily linked with the signing of wantaway Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun!. I can't understand for the life of me why we would even entertain the idea. Ok, if Joe Cole does leave and we need a replacement, surely there are much better options as we should look to improve our squad. For me, Yossi doesn't fit the bill at all.
The Daily Mail have a couple of articles on this story. In this article its claimed that Chelsea have already tabled a bid of 4 million which was rejected but a 6 million offer will be enough to bring him to the Bridge. However, it appears that Liverpool are looking for approx 10 million as they do not want to sell to one of their main rivals.
Rivals? Not this season or next season which Rafa's 5 million budget for new players!
Finally the rumours increase day by day about Joe Cole. Goal.com have reported that Arsenal are looking at bringing Joe to the Emirates.
The Mirror has reported on Chelsea's curb in spending and Cole could be the first player to suffer under the clubs new reported structure.
The Times Online is also reporting that Manchester United are interested in Joe as the player feels he is no longer wanted by Carlo Ancelotti.
Today is D-Day for Joe Cole. If he is selected for the World Cup squad I believe we have a chance of keeping him. If he doesn't, it could be the end of his time at Chelsea.
What do you think of these stories, are you happy with the players we are linked with and do you feel they would improve the squad or not? Have you say by posting a comment asap!
CAREFREE & KTBFFH EVERYONE!

would have thoght de rossi , kaka , and keeping joe cole would have been better names than benyoun and aguero or silva or de maria fo attacking mids but the thought of aquiring yaya toure i like because h could play holder in midfield which would release essien to attack maybe at the tip with frank on the right of a diamond (if there's no aguero)
