The Chelsea Daily Drivel is a daily update of all the stories concerning our club, the rumours, the opinions and more....
So here is the latest from around the web from Saturday 26th June - Tuesday 29th June 2010 including: Michael Mancienne, Deco, Scott Sinclair, Sam Hutchison, Sebastien Veron, James Milner, Joe Cole and Florent Malouda
First to the news that Wolves are very keen on Michael Mancienne. Mancienne has spent time on loan at Wolves and they are looking to sign him on a permanent deal. Owner Steve Morgan said over the weekend:
I personally hope that Mancienne is allowed to be a part of the Chelsea squad this season as one of the reported 5 youngsters coming into the squad. He has Premier League experience now and surely that can only benefit Chelsea and Mancienne.
Now to Deco and it seems a move back to Brazil could very well be on the cards. He has spoken of his future as he was out in South Africa. He said:
Now to another of the Chelsea youngsters, Scott Sinclair. It seems that newly promoted Blackpool are looking to take him to the club for their first season in the Premier League. Sinclair featured for Wigan a few times last season so already has experience of playing in the division and Ian Holloway is interested in his services, however its not clear if he would want a to make the signing permanent or just a loan deal at this stage.
Again for me, like Mancienne, I think Sinclair is another one who should be featured more heavily in the Chelsea squad for this coming season.
Another Chelsea youngster who has featured over the weekend is Sam Hutchison(to the right of Joe Cole in the photo). He was speaking to chelseafc.com and he said:
With Mancienne and Sinclair, Hutchison is another of the break through players for me. He put in a fantastic cross for a Lampard goal this season when he came on at right back and is one that should be in the squad this season for me.
Now to one of the biggest wastes of spaces we had seen at Chelsea over time, Sebba Veron. Veron believe it or not spoke to the press at the weekend and revealed that playing in England nearly forced him to give up football!. He said:
All I can say is what a waste of money, something Roman has admitted to in recent times!. Over £43m was spent by United and Chelsea on him and not to mention his wages!. Waste!
More now on James Milner. Since the beginning of the week the stories have intensified about Milner and he will hand in a transfer request to Villa within days. It seems that he will snub Chelsea and sign for Manchester City for a reported £28m fee and £80k per week. The stories are reporting that Chelsea were unable to match the £20m fee Villa wanted for him and City have taken advantage.
Very strange that Chelsea wouldn't want to meet the fee Villa were asking for, maybe if these stories are true it may have something to do with the new wage structure that Roman has started at the club!?.
Now to more on Joe Cole and the reasons he has given for his departure from Chelsea. Joe said the following after the exit by England from the World Cup on Sunday (more on that later). He said:
It seems now that Joe has a whole host of options available to him with Arsenal, Spurs, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and also AC Milan stating an interest in Joe. I am not surprised to be honest, but one thing to make a note of is what he said about where he wants to play. He wants to play centre midfield and whoever signs him will need to assure Joe thats the role they want him to play for them.
Still can't believe he is leaving us!.
More now on Florent Malouda and the whole french disaster at the World Cup. Malouda spoke for the first time about what happened and it seems that the severity of the players actions have been on his mind and he feels alot different now. He said:
More tomorrow.

"If Chelsea say he's available then we would have an interest. Until they clarify what their plans for Michael are, it's very difficult to comment, We think the world of Michael at this club - he's a good player, he knows the set-up and he's a popular lad with the squad.
I think Michael's future depends on what home-grown players Chelsea bring in because they have a balance to strike. It's not like going to Tesco and taking tins off the supermarket shelf - as we all know, getting the right players is very difficult. The biggest issue is where Chelsea see Michael's future."
He said:
"My wish to go back to Brazil is due to personal issues, stronger than football issues, If that happens, Fluminense are the club closest to signing me."I have said it before and I will say it again, I don't see Deco as a major loss for Chelsea and Ancelotti if he does go back to Brazil. His time has come to an end at the club.
"I think I may be seen more as a right-back, but I am happy wherever the manager plays me. I came on against Stoke at right-back, and got injured in that game, injuring my back. I was meant to be involved in the last games, but I don't know, wherever the boss sees me, I am happy. I am capable of playing anywhere, if I am fit. When I have played, I have done okay and I think I can do a job. I'm confident in myself and now in my knee as well."
He said:
"I wandered around Europe like a gypsy, without ever finding happiness or somebody who understood me. That's why I went back to Estudiantes,I was tired of being a wanderer. England has a spectacular Premier League but that's it. They don't train very much and there were no proper warm-ups at Manchester United.
Paul Scholes would turn up and fire off a shot, without warming up, from 50 metres towards the goal even when it was minus five degrees. I did that once and I pulled a muscle from my knee to my hip. I was never happy in England and my time there made me question my desire to continue playing.
I've never seen this sport as a business, even if it is my trade. I'm still enjoying it and I love the idea of still being competitive and in a club where I more or less grew up. I'll be giving up the national team after the World Cup but hopefully I can continue playing for a little longer. I would never have dreamed that I'd play in three World Cups."
He said:
"My season for Chelsea wasn't great for what I believe were political reasons rather than footballing reasons, I love Carlo Ancelotti and have big respect for him. My leaving is not financial and it is nothing to do with Carlo. I love him and think he is a top guy and a top manager. I've loved my time at Chelsea and I love the fans but it is a story for another day and I will tell it. But now is not the time.
"Now I want to have a couple of weeks off, to sort my future out as soon as possible, to go on holiday with my family. Next season I want to have a fantastic season for England and for whatever club I am at. Wherever I go, it'll be a footballing decision. I want to play in a more central position and I want a manager who has faith in me. And I'm talking about club football here.
"It's a big decision for me and my family but I'm open to anything at the moment. I have purposely not spoken to anyone while I've been here because that wouldn't be fair on England. My phone has been turned off but now I want to sort it all out."
He said:
"We were in a state of mind where we were reacting to something, That was the wrong decision. Now it's over and we're thinking about the future. It's really something brutal. For a player, for a simple problem to go to huge proportions - everything was out of control. Trying to blame one play for a collective mess, collective failure - I can't understand that."I think I can speak for most people who saw their games and say that we could see that!.
It was like we didn't know how to get a result, The most important thing was that we didn't know how to work on the confidence. There was a loss of confidence on the pitch. We were trying to find a solution but didn't know where to start.
More tomorrow.
