It was a game the world was watching as everyone expected Chelsea to stumble and hand the initiative to Man United but it was a different story as let's be honest, Chelsea played in second gear as that was all that was needed to get the job done today.
Liverpool to their credit made a game of it but with their only shot on target coming in the 91st minute of the game, that alone tells the story.
Chelsea played really well and never looked in any danger. Ancelotti made only one change to the side that beat Stoke last week with JT coming in for Ferreira and Ivanovic moving across to right back.
Liverpool huffed and puffed but couldn't really muster any real threat in the game. Chelsea had a penalty shout turned down which replays suggest it should of been given after Lucas clipped Kalou in the box. Nothing was given and should have been but Chelsea were 1-0 up by then.
Unfairly Steven Gerrard will get alot of headlines in the morning for his backpass which Didier Drogba pounced on and went passed Reina who had no chance and slotted the ball home. It was no less than Chelsea deserved.
Chelsea made it two early in the second half when Drogba played a ball out wide to Anelka and his cross found Lampard, making one of his customary late runs into the box, and he slid the ball home passed the helpless Reina once more.
Liverpool made some changes to their side but never really threatend a Chelsea side high on confidence and playing well.
The thing that was impressive was not only did we get the job done. We never looked in any trouble really in the game and looked like we could step it up a gear if we needed to.
Today at Anfield we didn't need to and the 3 points were ours.
So its onto Stamford Bridge and Wigan at home. A win and the title is ours once more. United have beaten Sunderland today 1-0 so remain a point behind.
Its a grandstand finish to a topsy-turvey season, but one that could be the biggest in our history.
CAREFREE & KTBFFH !
if it wern't the mancs going for the title we would have twatted you . .horrible pricks!! we even applauded you off the pitch... fucking ungrateful rent boys!!
ReplyDeleteto say Chelsea deserved to take the lead is a bit misleading, up until that point Liverpool were the better team and Chelsea looked nervous, the goal settled them and they went on to a deserved victory. The other thing you got wrong is kalou tripped himself, Lucas never touched him and the referee rightly waved play on. Please get your facts right
ReplyDelete@Anonymous 1. Listen I am not disrespecting Liverpool at all. I have said to their credit they made a game of it. However I do believe that it didnt matter if we were going for the title or not, you boys were knackered and 1 shot on target on 91 minutes says it all.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous 2, again 1 shot on target, so I disagree you were the better side. Reina kept you in the game in the second half and watch ALL the replays of the Kalou incident again and you will see its a pen.
@ both of you, where was Rafa ? He is normally at the side of the pitch barking his orders and today didnt seem like he was bothered?
typical blinkered comment from somebody who probably only started "supporting" Chelsea when Abramovich made them competitive
ReplyDeleteActually Aquilani had a shot clip the bar well before the 91st minute. To be honest LFC were deflated and had nothing to play for, we have been poor all season and we know it. We also did not break into a sweat.
ReplyDeleteIt was a crap game all round but congratulations to Ancelloti and the boys,,,guess who we will be supporting on the final day, don't let those mancs get their hands on the final prize, if you win the league it will be the only time I will stand up and applaud....
@Anonymous 3, you can say what you like and call me what you like but never call me a glory boy! If you checked out the about section on my site you will see I am a real fan.
ReplyDeleteI remember standing on the Shed End with just six thousand fans at the ground in the old second divison!!!
Ok then to all Liverpool fans, do you really think you played well enough or deserved anything from the game. What did Steve G do exactly in the game?. Sorry to be blunt but once Alonso went you have never been the same and now Benitez is saying the expectation levels at your club were set too high this season.
ReplyDeleteHave a read here and see if you agree?.

I think Liverpool FC 'allowed' Chelsea FC to win this. The truth is Chelsea fans know this too. The pass from Gerrard to Drogba, The Babel miss, the AA fall in the 18 NS shot that went sideways.
ReplyDeleteThe Chelsea defence was porous and could have been exploited easily.
I am so glad Chelsea won. The blues were denied two clear cut penalties.Never doubt the power of these refs.
ReplyDeleteFor the Wigan game I expect Chelsea to prevail by at least three goals. However it aint so clearcut. If it's a tense affair the ref may award dodgy penalties aginst the blues to help the red faced to win the title.
You never know. I am in a minority whose trust in the man in black has been misplaced . Remember the Blackburn and other games. At least two penalties in the BR game were not given.
i will be jumping for joy when Chelsea despatched Wigan and let the ref finish trophless.
As usual Fergie is ranting away. When the refs do him favours he will not admit it. Remember the ball that crossed the goal line in the match against Spurs.
ReplyDeleteThe ref said it was not a goal. This ref shd be fined and sacked and I hope he is no more officiating as of May 2010.
