Tomorrow at White Hart Lane, Chelsea take on Spurs in the second of our "six cup-finals" and no matter what happens elsewhere Chelsea have to win because quite simply "Its Tottenham".
Its the one of the games that both sets of supporters will look for and one of those games that means the world to us to win. Chelsea got the three points earlier in the season after beating Spurs 3-0 but we all know it will be a different game tomorrow!.
Chelsea come into the game playing well and are flying high top of the League. We are four points clear of United and come kick off could still be the same (let's hope!) and could have a chance to extend our lead further. Spurs could come into the game a point behind City (as it stands today) and are challenging for the final Champions League place.
After our impressive run of form since the switch back to 4-3-3 and Spurs' impressive performance against the Arsenal in the week this could turn into a classic.
These games always have "bite" to them and tomorrow will be no different but with the added pressures on both sides because of primarily their league positions and purely because of the fan's expectation's it could come down to who handles it better.
There will be goals in it for sure. Chelsea's back four will remain the same (with maybe Ashley Cole back on the bench) with Cech in goal but will Harry Redknapp keep the same back four for Spurs which if he doesn't, could unsettle them.
The Midfield battle will be key once more and I believe will have a major influence on the result. For me, Palacios missing is key. Ok, Arsenal had alot of the ball against Spurs but played the ball around from side to side and into the big man upfront alot and played into Spurs' hands. There wasn't alot of late runs from midfield for Spurs to deal with in Palacios's absence.
This is where it's different when Chelsea come to town in our 4-3-3 formation. Deco was rested the other night against Bolton for Ballack and I fully expect Deco to come back into the side. Mikel will continue in the holding role and Lampard (who is the main man tomorrow) will be making his runs all game. Its how Spurs and Tom Huddlestone deal with Lampard that could be key.
I expect Malouda and Joe Cole to start tomorrow in the wide positions next to Didier up front with the unlucky Anelka dropped to the bench. For Spurs it looks as though it will be more of the same tomorrow in their midfield so it remains a question of how Redknapp will approach his forward line. I believe he will change again tomorrow and Crouch and Defoe will get the nod. Chelsea old boy Eidur will be there on the bench (which is still something I just can't get used to!).
A word of note for Spurs, Lennon could be back on the bench.
So for me tomorrow its about who handles the "occassion" better and how Spurs deal with Lampard that will have a major influence on the result. I do however have to say, that the days of 4-0, 5-0, 5-1 results in the these games are long gone as you cannot underestimate the progress Spurs have made under Redknapp. From bottom of the league to fighting for a Champions League place is remarkable.
Spurs will be up for it tomorrow and Chelsea will have to match them from the off. Spurs looked leggy come the end of the game against the Arsenal and it could be another factor in the game tomorrow.
Don't be surprised if there is only a single goal in it. It will be a tight and tense affair and I wouldn't put it past him if Frank makes a late surge into the box to nick it in the last ten minutes!.
COME ON THE CHELS!
CAREFREE & KTBFFH EVERYONE!
Should be a formality for you tomorrow but I'm sure our lads will give it a good go. Personally, I think Joe Cole is the key for you....he always plays well against us (probably due to his Spammer roots). On paper, it's no contest but you never know. If Harry starts Crouch then you are on to a winner, but I hope he doesn't. Either way should be a good game.COYS!!!
ReplyDeleteWell done for removing the previous first post, which was rather racist!
