DROGBA.
Didier Drogba has been handed a two-game ban by UEFA following his sending off against Inter Milan at Stamford Bridge in the second leg of the Champions League's "Round of 16" the other week. Next season will be the 2nd in a row that Drogba will miss the beginning of our Champions League campaign due to suspension.
I know he has since come out and said that he shouldn't of been sent off, but the fact of the matter is that he stood on Motta's ankle and in light of the "show" he put on in front of the camera's and the watching audience against Barcelona, UEFA were never going to ignore it. Its about time Didier kept his nose clean and got his head down and stayed on the pitch in the Champions League!
CHELSEA SALARIES!
Its been reported that the Chelsea squad have now the 4th highest paid salaries in Sport. On average the basic wage is reported as being approx 69,000 per week equalling 3.5 million per year. The New York Yankee's baseball team is the highest earners with salaries paid at approx 90,000 per week and 4.6m per year.
Whatever you think about Football the money is unreal and I am sure that there will be people who do agree with the amount they are paid, compared to those who disagree. I for one don't agree with the money these footballers are being paid. Think about it, they train for 2 hours a day and play up to twice a week in front of adoring fans who idolise them. That's why I guess we all get frustrated when we see people under performing in a Chelsea shirt.
One thing is for sure, after reports about Roman and his new outlook on wages/salaries etc, I am sure you will see Chelsea drop further down the table in the coming seasons.
MANCHESTER UNITED
Like plenty more of you, Tonight I will have one eye on Munich and the events at the Alliance Arena. United travel to Bayern in the first leg of the knockout stages and Chelsea old-boy Arjen Robben could have a major impact on this one. He is a doubt for tonight, but if there is any chance of him being fit I am sure he will play. Looking at the highlights of the last game they played against Fiorentina, he has looked as though he is getting back to the form he showed for Chelsea in the two seasons we won the League.
Let's hope its a hard game for United tonight. With Saturday coming and the game of the season, with Chelsea having a free week to prepare ahead of the game, and with United wanting to get some kind of a result tonight, it could be a trip that Fergie will rue come Saturday!.
CAREFREE & KTBFFH EVERYONE!
