REPORTS: Chelsea looking to strengthen in FOUR key areas!

Reports suggest that once Jose Mourinho has signed the extension to his current contract, he will be looking to sign a Goalkeeper, Defender, Midfielder and a Striker this summer and there are four names being touted as possible targets.

Atletico Madrid wide-man Antoine Griezmann, Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette, Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane and Getafe keeper Vicente Guaita are on their radar but with the FFP restrictions in place it would mean that at least three Chelsea players would need to make way. Those three are Petr Cech, Filipe Luis and Oscar.

Antionne Griezmann has had a fantastic season at Atletico and has put himself firmly in the spotlight as a result. Having only spent the best part of a season in Madrid, it's going to cost a small fortune to release him from his contract and that's rumoured to be around £43m. Are there other solutions elsewhere? Gareth Bale for example or Pedro of Barcelona who would cost literally half that money and someone who looks far more industrious and willing to graft in games compared to Griezmann?

Raphael Varane is a name we are all aware of and someone that Jose Mourinho obviously admires as he is the one that gave him his chance at Real Madrid. He has done well since he came into the side and although it looks like Pepe and Sergio Ramos are the preferred defensive partnership, he has forced his way into the side on various occasions and has done well.

He seems to have a cool head on his shoulders and isn't flustered under pressure. Of course, as with any defender, there are times he is caught out or makes mistakes but they seem to be very few and far between.

As for the cost? You would imagine around £20m at least to get him but it's well worth it because of his age looking to the future. A link up with Kurt Zouma long term looks promising for Chelsea and for France under the guidance of Mourinho and John Terry.

Alexandre Lacazette is someone I have little knowledge of if I am honest. As usual I had a look on the Internet and have been impressed with what I have seen.

He is only 23 and is already being touted as the next goalscoring sensation. At the end of April he broke the record in the French League for scoring his 26th goal of the season and the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal are already rumoured to have made contact with Lyon over his availability this summer.

Have a look here and see for yourselves, he is a natural, clinical finisher and would cost half of what you would have to pay out for a big named striker elsewhere.

Then again, we could potentially (if given a chance) have someone like him within our ranks already in Patrick Bamford so there is already an argument for us to go without investing needless money on a striker this summer.

Vicente Guaita is again someone I know little about. I think we can all agree that there will be a need for a replacement for Petr Cech this summer and he isn't the first name to be linked to the club. Guaita is 28 years old and has only featured in 120 career games so far.

For me, you have to query as to why someone of that age and little experience would be interested in coming to the club as a backup Goalkeeper? I can understand someone like Rob Green who is passed his prime but still maintaining great levels of personal performance for QPR this season coming here.

QPR are heading for relegation and I would imagine he would love to come here even if it's only to feature in around 15 games or so for a couple of seasons.

So what of the link to the four players mentioned above? What are your initial reactions? I personally would consider the signing of Varane and Lacazette as ideal if there is real substance based on their age and their obvious potential. You could sign both for the price of Griezmann for example!
