Chelsea turned up at Wembley under Maurizio Sarri unbeaten, confident and looking to demonstrate their impressive Sarri-Ball. Instead, they were humiliated,  humbled and made to look very ordinary by Tottenham.

Tottenham literally battered Chelsea at Wembley tonight in what can only be described as one of the worst defensive performances I have seen in recent seasons. It was a truly disgraceful performance and one that many had seen coming bearing in mind the fact that Arsenal had ripped us apart but never took their chances, Bournemouth had created more than their fair share and Everton two weeks ago gave the rest of the Premier League a demonstration on how to take Jorginho out of the game.

I am sure Maurizio Sarri had named an unchanged side from the last game with Kepa in goal, Azpi, Rudiger, Luiz and Alonso at the back. Jorginho, Kante and Kovacic in the middle with Hazard, Willian and Morata up top. Pre-game it seemed to be the right selection for me as I thought that Mateo Kovacic would give us more bite in the middle of the pitch compared to Ross Barkley.

Within sixteen minutes of the game starting we found ourselves two down to goals from Dele Alli and Harry Kane. Both goals were an absolute joke with the first being yet ANOTHER demonstration of how David Luiz loses his head and his position to cost us. Marcos Alonso pressed high, the ball was won back by Tottenham and they immediately played the ball in-behind him and what happens? David Luiz leaves his position in the centre to come across, make a ridiculous tackle giving away a free-kick to which Christian Eriksen whips the ball into the box for Dele Alli to head past Kepa in goal!

The second, we lose possession of the ball, Kane turns Jorginho who struggles to get back at him and make any sort of substantial challenge, Kane steps inside another challenge and strikes the ball low towards the bottom corner. Now, seeing the angle on TV afterwards you can see that rather than stand firm and block the shot or at least stick out a leg to try and deflect the attempt at goal, David Luiz moves out of the way of the shot giving Kepa no chance at all and the ball finds its way into the bottom corner to make it 0-2.

Better still, right at the end of the first half, with Tottenham swarming over our back four who are given literally no support whatsoever from the midfield, they carve us open again down the left hand side and play a ball into the box for Son to strike the ball on the volley twelve yards out heading towards goal but for Kepa who makes an unbelievable save to keep us in the game.

Chelsea had offered nothing going forward. Alvaro Morata was caught offside more times than he touched the ball in the game. He's looking along the defensive line for fuck sake! How can he not see he is moving into an offside position! Eden Hazard and Willian offered little with both beginning to drift out of the game having watched the absolute shambles at the back so far. At half-time 0-2.

I called for Maurizio Sarri to make changes at half-time on my Twitter account. I stated that I wanted him to surprise me, to show me that he wasn't another Antonio Conte who would wait 20-30 minutes too late to make changes and wanted him to take Jorginho and Morata off, for Olivier Giroud and Ross Barkley. That was because Tottenham had pushed right on Jorginho and never gave him any chance to play - he was useless. I thought at the time and still stand by this - taking him off for Ross Barkley and playing N'Golo Kante in his natural position would give them something to think about, to adjust the way they were playing in their midfield with Kovacic and Barkley now being employed in the box-to-box role. As for Giroud? It was clear that we now needed a focal point up front, someone to play off of and to have some sort of presence to build from because we haven't at all with Morata.

The teams come out - NOTHING! Same team and no changes! How on earth is that going to make the game different? How is that going to get us back into the game and give them something else to think about or deal with?

So what happens? We play slightly better but a ball played down the line for Son to chase being tracked back by Jorginho and David Luiz covering changed everything. Son is off down our left hand side and all he has to do is flick the ball further down the line then inside and demonstrates an average (it has to be said) turn off pace to leave Jorginho for dead. As he cuts inside, David Luiz you think will stand up and show him down the line but NO, he decides to try and cut across him to flick the ball out of his control. Son, clips the ball inside Luiz and leaves him for dead before taking his time to pick his spot in the far corner to make it 0-3!!

Think back to the World Cup a few years ago when Germany battered Brazil that day. On that day we all witnessed David Luiz at his worst, someone who lost his focus, lost his discipline and became a complete liability - today he became that player again.

The thing is, I cannot berate just David Luiz here despite the fact that he is more than culpable. Every single Chelsea player that started that game were off their game, second best in every department and made to look very, very ordinary. Being totally honest, by saying all this because of how disappointed I am is taking away the fact that Tottenham were different class on the day, deserved their win and let's face it, they could have scored SIX!

When Maurizio Sarri eventually made his changes he brought on Pedro and Barkley, NOT Giroud. He took Kovacic and Morata off and they played with Eden Hazard up front which we all know does not work! You will never, ever get the same performance from Eden Hazard playing pushed up against the defence with his back towards goal. It's a pointless exercise because he needs to be playing when he can collect the ball and face his direct opponent to sucker them in to make a challenge and skip around them. Trying all his flicks and tricks up their with someone up his arse is never going to get us anywhere.

With fifteen minutes to go, not any earlier, Olivier Giroud came on for Willian. We immediately had someone up there that could win headers, hold the ball up or lay it off and someone who could become a link-man to our attacking midfield. In that short period of time, Chelsea created a few decent half-chances and scored a consolation through Giroud himself who headed home from close range after a fantastic ball played into the box by Cesar Azpilicueta.

Tottenham were outstanding. Their use of the ball when in possession was far better than ours. They managed to create and find plenty of space in front of our back four, crowded out Jorginho, suppressed our attack and but for some guilt-edge opportunities missed, could have really embarrassed us here.

I hope to god that Maurizio Sarri has had the biggest wake-up call and kick up his arse now to realise that this is the Premier League and not Serie A! Every single team will take the fight to you and make you earn every single point. There are no pushovers, there are no easy games and most importantly of all, trying to make a system with Jorginho playing in front of our back-four work is now pointless as demonstrated here and by Everton two weeks ago.

Credit Tottenham and it pains me to say that. Chelsea's performance was a disgrace!
