Despite all the doom and gloom from those so-called Chelsea fans around the world, looking at our squad now heading into the first half of the season with the new signings that we HAVE made, I am pleased that we have added quality this summer.

Last season it's fair to say that once Antonio Conte settled on his 3-4-3 formation the team was pretty much a settled side with only a couple of positions being rotated (Pedro/Willian and Matic/Fabregas) so it's important to look at those that first eleven for the majority of last season compared to our possible first team this season:

Now, let's also focus on the players that are not named in that starting eleven put forward by Goal.com and you can see how strong we are: Willy Caballero, Victor Moses, Gary Cahill, Cesc Fabregas, Danny Drinkwater, Willian and Michy Batshuayi. That's not including Andreas Christensen either.

Based on the first team suggested above, we need to establish whether or not this years first team is an upgrade on last season.

Davide Zappacosta is an upgrade from a defensive point of view on Victor Moses. We are yet to see how good he is going forward but all reports indicate that he is.

Antonio Rudiger for Gary Cahill? I am not so sure as I still rate Cahill for his defensive instinct to make that last ditch tackle and to literally throw himself at the ball.

Tiemoue Bakayoko for Nemanja Matic we hope proves to be an upgrade on Matic. The big Serbian midfielder has the advantage of Premier League experience but that will come in time for Bakayoko. He French midfielder has age on his side.

Alvaro Morata for Diego Costa is an upgrade for me and only time will tell with Morata after the excellent start he has made for us this season. He will outscore Costa at Chelsea and in my opinion is far more mobile than Costa. The only thing he lacks compared to Diego is the nasty streak that enables him to dominate and bully defenders.

The one thing that is noticeable about our squad this season is that we have a number of players that can play in more than one single position. We have players that can play in at least two positions whether that's as a centre-back, full-back or as a wing-back. As a deep-lying midfielder or attacking midfielder and as out and out wingers or as a number ten behind our striker.

That's what is key for Antonio Conte this season as he will have little choice but to rotate his players as we come to terms with Champions League football at Chelsea in addition to our domestic competitions once again and you can check out our chances of success this season on online betting sites.

When everyone is fit and available for Antonio Conte, Chelsea's first team is right up there with the best there is challenging us for the title. Most importantly, Chelsea have the right balance to their team compared to others.

For example, Manchester City and Manchester United are useless in the centre of their defence and if they lose one of those players, they are in trouble. Liverpool and Arsenal have the same problems at the back and unless they can sort themselves out, all four sides will find themselves behind Chelsea and Tottenham once again in the title race.

Shake off this doom and gloom Chelsea face. Let's look at the positives from our window and focus on the players that ARE here rather than the ones that are not.

Let's not forget, we still have this guy at the Bridge!

  1. By far the best article coming off late. We really need to focus on these players and lets us not forget they are still world class and won the champion ship barring the departure of Matic and Costa. The coach should focus on re-conditioning Kennedy as a wing back, give him confidence to be a proper back up for Alonso. Victor Moses has competition and we have four central midfielders in Drink water, Bakayoko, fabregas and Kante and Luiz should the need arise. We have 3 serious contenders for attacking positions in Hazard, William and Pedro. We have strong back up in Victor Moses and Muzonda or Kennedy if need arises now that we have a backup plan for Moses. Mich has to be gven confidence by the coach as well. i think we possess by far the strongest deference in the league in central positions and wide. Otherwise we are good to go. Mr Conte more hardwork, fitness levels, right attitude, commitment, right concentration.Lets fight for the Chelsea Badge.

  3. I agree with that fact. Hard work is needed, and full concentration from every player, we hope for no or few injuries. Up Chelsea!

  4. This is just a consolatory statements for missing all our Target. what about we have- Alex Sandro, Balloti, Mahrez and Van Dyke, how solid do you think we would have been heading to champions league. hope to get things right come January window. As a fan, I welcome our new signings and have a pies of advise to our young loaned talents " Focus and dedicate more mentally and physically effort to add solid and better improvement to your games; we may not need experiencing all this same transfer saga every year if you are showing those talents that brought you to Chelsea in the first place; also be ware of injury's. we love and will always surport you guys. good luck as we hope to smile all the way to the top once again, have a successful blue season."

  6. I’m genuinely very happy with the way our transfer dealings have panned out.

We made a couple of good early(ish) signings in Bakayoko and Rudiger (I’ll consider Morata as a Lukaku afterthought) and apparently missed out on one or two others, sold Matic, Ake, Chalobah, loaned out Loftus-Cheek, Boga, and are struggling to offload Costa. A bit of a mixed bag perhaps but let’s put those to one side and deal with the more recent events.

We’ve spent an inordinate amount of time attempting to sign Lukaku, Sandro, Llorente, Drinkwataer, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Barkley, and Zappercosta, Only two of those would make our starting line-up, Sandro and Zappercosta, and we’ve signed Zapper Costa (I’ve no idea who persuaded Emanalo that Zappercosta was English but well played to whoever that was). I’m absolutely delighted that we’ve avoided spending millions on a string of average squad players, albeit mostly by our own ineptitude.

Having stated the above, let’s take an analogy of any Chelsea manager/coach. It’s the start of the season, he’s had weeks to plan and prepare, he has his tactics sorted and his objective is to win each game. He faces some good opposition, has a bit of luck, some good, some bad, the odd result he can do nothing about and, seven games in to the season, his record is played seven, lost five, won two. I wonder what action would be taken by the Chelsea board?

I believe there is a palpable discord between Emanalo and anyone who’s good at his job

  7. I think we had a great transfer window. I am worried about one position and that's the central striker role. I am sorry but Batshuayi is just not viable if Morata doesn't score or is injured. That back up striker role was a miss for Chelsea.
