It’s being reported that Antonio Conte and Michael Emenalo are at odds with each other over two reported transfer targets being linked with the club this summer.

Alvaro Morata and Romelu Lukaku have been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea for weeks now with both looking for moves away from their current clubs for different reasons.

Alvaro Morata has found life to be tough back at Real Madrid after the side from the Spanish capital decided to take up the option to buy the then in-form striker back from Juventus using the buy-back clause they had inserted in the transfer deal that first took him to Italy under Antonio Conte who subsequently left the club to work with the Italian national side.

He had a couple of excellent seasons playing for Juventus in Serie A and the Champions League where he made a name for himself as one of the hottest prospects in the game. Playing as a lone striker, Morata came for the fore as someone who has everything in his game. He has fantastic ability with the ball at his feet, an eye for goal and excellent work-rate, which was demonstrated in his last Champions League appearance for Juventus against Bayern Munich two seasons ago.

Morata took the game to Bayern in Munich, scoring a vital away goal and proved his ability as a lone striker tormenting the Bayern defenders throughout. When he was eventually substituted, Juventus were in control of the 2nd leg and the tie but the game changed after that moment, Juventus lost their way and Bayern Munich overcame the Italian side to beat them on aggregate.

So to Madrid and Morata’s return to the capital where life has not played out as he would have wanted. Unfortunately for Morata, he has had to cope with life in the bench for the most part of the season with Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo as their first choice attack and he is not happy. He is now reportedly looking for move and has spoken of his desire to link up once again with Antonio Conte.

Speaking to the Guardian, he said:

"I'm very happy at Madrid and they support me, but if an offer like that came again and they want to sell, I shouldn't close doors. I loved Italy but if one day I have to leave, I'm sure it will be to the Premier League."

Conte is the manager who most 'bet' on me, without even ever having had me in his team. I'm very conscious of that: he bet on me for Juventus but left before I arrived; then he wanted me at Chelsea come what may. He knows me better than I could imagine, I'm sure, and that's important: it motivates you to work hard, train well.

"I feel indebted to him because he's the coach that most trusted in me, most wanted me, who made me feel I could perform at the highest level. And yet I've never had the fortune to actually work with him. I'm sure sooner or later I will.

"The future excites me, whether that's Madrid or somewhere else. I still have to learn, improve. I can do a lot but I need to play more and for someone to really back me. Either I take off or I end up in a position of comfort, playing games occasionally. I'm no longer the youngest, I'm 24, it's a big moment."

You can see the respect Morata has for Conte and has openly talked up a move almost indicating to the Italian to make a bid for him again this summer. Whether or not the reports that Chelsea are more than interested in securing his services are true, it will take a massive bid to try and sign him from Madrid with figures of around £50m being talked of.

If as expected, Chelsea are to make a realistic challenge for the Champions League once again, the first attempt with Antonio Conte in charge, Chelsea will need players such as Morata who have the pedigree to take the club forward and to ensure that Chelsea maintain the fantastic record we have had in the competition so far.

What do you think of Alvaro Morata?
