Antonio Conte has rejected claims that a Chelsea victory at Anfield tonight would put an end to the Liverpool title challenge. Do you agree?
Both the Media and Pundits alike are all talking of Liverpool's poor form this week, losing to Swansea at home in the Premier League, losing the League Cup semi-final against Southampton followed by being dumped out of the FA Cup against Wolves last weekend. A defeat tonight would signal their worst run for nearly 100 years, put them 13 points behind Chelsea and next up at Anfield in their following two games at home will be Tottenham followed by Arsenal. Surely their challenge would be over?
When asked the same question, Antonio Conte replied by saying:
"Tomorrow against Liverpool will be a very tough game. They came after three defeats and we must pay attention because they are a really good team. They are one of six teams that can fight for the title and a place in the Champions League.
It's very important but after this week we have to play 14 games. It doesn't finish the league after these two games.
I think tomorrow is a tough test against a tough team. Good coach, good players and they have good experience to fight for the title.
I think after this game there are a lot of points (to play for). It would be a hard hit mentally for them (to lose) but there are 15 games after this and there are 45 points before the season finishes.
The result is important but it doesn't decide the season for Liverpool or Chelsea tomorrow." - Source: The Daily Mail.
This is a massive week for Chelsea. Imagine what a victory tonight would do to the Premier League table (based on other results going our way) and for our confidence heading into the Arsenal game on Saturday!
Do you agree with Conte? Do you think Liverpool's title challenge would be over?
