The future of Diego Costa at Chelsea has been up for debate since last summer. Now, as Atletico publicly confirm their interest in taking him back, I believe this season will be his last at Chelsea.
Something has never really seemed 100% with Costa here if you think about it despite the impact he made last season and of late under Guus Hiddink. I just feel that he has never really settled down to life in England and given the chance to go back to Madrid like Filipe Luis, he would jump at it.
The Atletico President is quoted as saying:
‘The three-pronged attack has been wonderful for everyone. We will try do everything possible to bring Diego Costa’.
We often here players talk of Costa being the joker in the dressing room and around the place but we never hear from him publicly do we? He still doesn't speak English which remains a concern and I really wonder if his heart has never found a home in London?
There are reports that Jose Mourinho had tried to sell Costa last summer after he suffered a massive dip in form towards the end of the season. The apparent fall out from that point was evident to all of us and there is no surprise that with Mourinho gone, Costa has rediscovered his form and scoring touch again.
Love him or hate him, he is someone you would love to have in your side and we do love him here purely for his passion for the game, for the fight and for his undoubted ability.
No one will ever forget the impact he made last season and we are more than thankful for his form in recent weeks and we hope that continues between now and the summer but we need to prepare ourselves for him leaving.
