There is huge demand for some of our promising youngsters to be playing instead of the likes of Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas right now. It's simply never going to happen now this season!
Let me cast your minds back to Carlo Ancelotti's second season at the club after secure our first ever double in 2009-2010. Think of the summer in between and the call for him to replace established names that left in that period with youngsters such as Jeffrey Bruma, Patrick Van Aanholt and Gael Kakuta.
Fast forward to around this time of the year in that second season, as injuries and suspensions took their toll we had to face Sunderland at home with a centre back pairing of Bruma and Paulo Ferreira and we were beaten easily 0-3!
As a result, plenty of people called to question our squad depth and our chances of finishing inside the top four. What happened during the transfer window in the following month? Chelsea spent a record £50m on Fernando Torres and £25m on David Luiz!
Now don't get me wrong here or mis-understand what I am saying as I would love to see the likes of Solanke, Bamford, Baker and Loftus-Cheek given a run as much as the next person because that's the dream isn't it - a team of home grown players who are all good enough. However, with what has happened to the club this season, any chance they had has been thrown out the door literally and I will explain why.
There is now IMMENSE pressure for Chelsea to finish inside the top four despite our hopes taking a huge hit with defeat to Bournemouth. The manager and the players would be reminded of the fact that this is now the target and to achieve it, we MUST play our best players week in, week out. Our strongest team to maintain stability and to hopefully go on a run of results that will see us climb the table!
I know people will think as they are reading this that this is what we have been doing (to a point) this season and they haven't delivered and I agree but, based on the adjusted expectations from upstairs, the remit is 4th at least and I simply cannot see any of them starting or even featuring between now and the end of the season.
I'm sorry to say it but it's FACT and the senior pro's are the people to blame!
