After the impressive performance from Chelsea against the albeit weaker opposition in Maccabi Tel Aviv, I want to know if you believe that the first team places of Branislav Ivanovic and John Terry are under threat tomorrow against Arsenal?
I will state on record right now that John Terry's is not. He will be back and captaining the side alongside Gary Cahill tomorrow at the heart of Chelsea's defence. As for Branislav Ivanovic, I am not so sure.
Although Kurt Zouma had a faultless game against Maccabi on Wednesday, I would choose experience over him and bring back JT. Zouma was caught out by the late run of Gary Naismith on two occasions last weekend and we cannot afford for any slips or lack of concentration tomorrow. JT comes back in without question.
Baba Rahman made an impressive start to his Chelsea career and for me, did more in those ninety minutes that Filipe Luis had for the whole of last season. His willingness to work up and down the left wing gave Chelsea attacking options supporting Eden Hazard but also gave us some security down that side also with his pace.
Up against Arsenal tomorrow, Chelsea will face out wide Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain or Theo Walcott, all blessed with tremendous pace and this is where for me, Ivanovic has to miss out.
I would stick with Cesar Azpilicueta on our right hand side and Rahman on the left to go directly up against their opponents as they both have the pace and energy to cope on both sides.
Ivanovic will suffer against them, as he has in virtually all of our games this season. We cannot afford to lose the battle down our right hand side which has become an area the opposition will attack at will.
So there you have it. I believe that Branislav Ivanovic will be the one to miss out tomorrow losing his place to Baba Rahman. What do you people think?
