It has to be one of the most bizarre sendings off I think I have ever seen and I wanted to know what your opinion was of Cesc Fabregas. Did you think he meant it?
Now we have to look at the situation here first and foremost and I would like to point out that to me, Darren Fletcher has alot to answer for because it's his reaction, running 30-40 yards over to Fabregas to have a pop at him that causes the Referee to overreact and send off the Midfielder.
As we know Diego Costa was having his usual moment in the game with a defender that caused a scene inside the box and the game to stop. As Costa carried on having his handbags with McAuley, everyone else got involved. Costa and the defender were booked as a result but it's what happened next that has caused a stir.
Away from the fracas, Cesc Fabregas wanders over to the opposite side of the box, takes control of the ball and kicks it back to the area where the free kick is about to be given but he connects with it and the ball flies over the West Brom players who had surrounded the Referee to complain about Costa and it hits Chris Brunt in the head - side on. With that the West Brom players raise their arms in disgust to complain. Now Fabregas, picks the ball up and walks towards them holding his hand up to apologise but Fletcher reacts and that what's leads to the red card.
Have a look for yourselves:
So do you think he meant to do it? I personally don't but that's just me! What do you think? What I will say is that on the flip side, it's yet another demonstration of his passing ability and being able to put that ball on a sixpence!
