Jose Mourinho criticised the Chelsea faithful back in November complaining of the lack of noise during our home games in an attempt to galvanise the supporters to back their team even more than do already.
Since that moment, there have been ridiculous reports of all kinds of measures that the club had been considering to try and improve the situation. One of those reports stated that the club were considering using recorded crowd noise on match days (which is joke if you ask me!).
When asked recently about the comments made by Jose Mourinho and these reports as featured here; Bruce Buck responded at an event in London by saying:
Damn right we would not accept it! It's scandalous and a joke! To think that you would be in the Stadium watching the game with this noise being played out of the sound system and would feel really uncomfortable personally."Our manager, for some reason, decided a few months ago to say that the fans were quiet at moments. One of the problems is it's very difficult to get tickets when the stadium is sold out every week. It's difficult to get young people to visit because it's hard to buy tickets.Every club is looking to improve the match day experience, but we can't have recorded fan noise — our fans just wouldn't accept that."
It's like watching these programs on the TV with the canned laughter they have on there. Once you notice it, it spoils the viewing because it's forced as the producers encourage you to laugh.
Football is all about emotions and your instincts to the game being played out in front of you. Yes at times the atmosphere could be better but I am sure that's the same around every single ground in the Premier League and not just at Stamford Bridge.
Buck is right, as many of the Chelsea fans who have been going to the ground for years will tell you, as soon as Chelsea became successful over the last ten years, the demand for tickets has increased. More and more of the general sale tickets are bought by people that want to come and experience a game of football and not the masses of Chelsea fans who would come and show their passion for the club.
Record crowd noise at Stamford Bridge would be a joke and an insult and I am glad that Bruce Buck has acknowledged the fact!
