After victory at Anfield, it was revealed by various statisticians that Eden Hazard has been fouled a staggering FIFTY times already this season. We asked about that stat, Hazard had a message for the Premier League.
Hazard is well on the way to becoming classed in the same bracket as Cristano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi with his performances getting better and better this season.
As one of Chelsea's most dangerous attacking players, it's only natural that defenders up and down the country will try to stop him but in doing so have given Chelsea an advantage on more than one occasion already this season. Just look at the penalties he has won against Arsenal and QPR for example!
So to Hazard when told of the fact that he has been fouled fifty times he said:
"Yes there have been very physical challenges on me, but this is the Premier League - it's always difficult, physically and tactically. But it's okay. I'm good in this moment and I want to stay like this.
When they foul me I get free kicks for the team. Sometimes I don't score, but by doing this I set up a lot of chances, I create fouls. It's not bad for me."
He is spot on and as I have said, his form in recent weeks has been different class. We are now seeing Hazard drop deep and ask for the ball now as he is keen to get as involved as much as possible. That hasn't been a major part of his game in the couple of seasons he has been here but it's very noticeable now.
Hazard is world class and is a major influence for Chelsea. He will continue to beat defenders, get the better of them and force them into fouls in dangerous areas which can only be good for the team.
I wouldn't be surprised if that figure tops 200 for the season by the time it's finished. Then again, how do you stop Eden Hazard??
