What can you say about the game yesterday other than it was a massive, massive win!

Andre Schurrle and an inspired Fernando Torres scored the goals that gave Chelsea a huge three points at this early stage of the season. Chelsea and Jose Mourinho have laid down a marker and sent a message to the rest of the Premier League.

As we all know, City have been a team we have struggled against of late and last season especially, we just couldn't buy a win against them.

In the last two seasons, Chelsea have dropped a huge number of points against our title rivals and as a result have seen us finish way off the pace and nowhere near making a realistic title challenge.

It was a fantastic game of football with both sides looking to attack whenever they had possession. City dominated possession in the first half but Chelsea created the more clear cut chances.

Fernando Torres blasted over the bar from 12 yards with just Joe Hart to beat, Gary Cahill blasted another over the bar before Torres, playing like a man possessed set up Andre Schurrle to tap home from close range to make it 1-0.

City were creating half chances in the first half and I lost count of how many times they fired over the bar in the game. Chelsea should have been at least 2-0 up at the break. It was a good half for Chelsea!

Now in games like these even being 1-0 up against one of your main rivals, you look to start the half well and settle back into the game. You hope to keep things tight, take the sting out of the opposition who have no choice but to come at you, and then start to get hold of the ball and create yourselves.

It couldn't have gone any worse and that was because of City. They were far better than us and took advantage with a stunning strike from Sergio Aguero to make it 1-1 after just five minutes of the half.

Back level now and all to play for. Both sides were probing looking for an opening and it became a midfield battle. Ramires was simply outstanding and was my man of the match. He was everywhere, defending his own box, throwing himself around and putting himself about with some notable challenges on Yaya Toure. Also he was pushing forward and supporting our attacking four when he could. It was yet another fantastic performance from the Brazilian.

City had their chances as Silva should of at shot at goal rather than pass to someone else when he was played through inside the box. Garcia headed straight at Cech and Cech made two important saves low down to deny our opponents.

Up the other end, Terry stretched but could not reach a Lampard cross, Torres headed straight at Hart, Ramires fired over and a Willian free kick went wide just beyond the reach of Ivanovic.

Then the moment that is making all the headlines today as we moved into the 90th minute of the game. Just as it looked like this will finish in a draw, Willian played a long ball over the top for Torres to chase. Nastasic and Joe Hart got themselves into a right mess and Torres capitalised to score the winner!

Torres and Chelsea deserved their luck in this one and especially Torres himself. His performances of late have been fantastic and he never stops working. It could have been easy for him to put his head down and focus on the easy chance he missed but he didn't. He took the game by the scruff of the neck and played a huge part in both goals as you can see above.

What a game, what a win and a definite statement of intent from Jose Mourinho and his Chelsea team! This result is massive at this early stage of the season and makes it four points from six against our main title rivals.

Is the tide turning gradually? Let's hope so!
