Tonight will be weird. Watching Didier Drogba play for another side in the Champions League up against Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid. No matter how many times I see it, it just never feels right as it is only a short time ago that he scored THAT penalty!.
Of course leading up to tonight's game, there has been plenty of questions put to Drogba about Mourinho and with all the speculation that Jose is coming back to Chelsea in the summer, Drogba has added his point of view. He said:
I agree 100% with Drogba and have always thought that at some stage, Mourinho will return because of how things ended here first time around. Think about it, he won the CL with Porto, he won it with Inter and has a great chance of winning it this term with Madrid. If that happens this season, Chelsea would be the only club he has managed that failed to win it when he was in charge.
Speaking of Mourinho and Chelsea, Drogba also added that he would be interested in doing what he could to help Chelsea whether that would be as a player or as a coach and would be open to re-uniting with Mourinho in West London. He said:
"It would be nice, not just coaching but to help the club. For this club I gave everything and of course they gave it back to me. I feel at home when I go to London. When I go to Chelsea's training ground I feel like I can walk around with my eyes closed and know where I am going."(Source)
With rumours that Frank Lampard is keen to stay at Chelsea and would be open to a player/coach role next season working with Mourinho, could we see a possible return to Chelsea for Didier Drogba too?
We will have to wait and see. One thing is for sure, Chelsea haven't replaced Drogba and have struggled this season without him!
