After posting that Roman Abramovich had (reportedly) given Jose Mourinho a £350,000 watch recently it seems as though he has finally admitted that he needs to bring back the "Special One" to Stamford Bridge.
If press reports and rumour are too be believed there is just one stumbling block in all of this and that's Michael Emenalo. Rumour has it that Mourinho has told Abramovich that if he was to come back, Emenalo needs to go!.
We all know that Mourinho likes control. We know that he likes to do things his way and you cannot argue with his record where he has been.
I posted this article a while ago about Emenalo stating that it was "Time to point the finger at our Technical Director" because let's face it, the Chelsea Head Coach/First Team Manager position has become a laughing stock.
Carlo Ancelotti won the double and was sacked the next season, AVB was brought in for around £14m and was sacked six months later, Roberto Di Matteo won the FA Cup and Champions League and was sacked five months later and now we have public enemy number one (as far as Chelsea fans were concerned) in charge!.
(Cody Bound wrote a well balanced argument as to "Who is to Blame" the other day and it's well worth a read.)
We can see that we are in transition and we need some stability, someone to come in and take the club forward into the future for the next 3-5 years or so. I personally believe that Jose Mourinho is that man but he will want to do it his way and why shouldn't he?
For Roman Abramovich this is a critical time for him and for our club. Will he bring Jose back and relinquish his involvement in transfers to allow Jose to work alone or will his insistence on being involved and being advised by Emenalo become something he just can't let go?
Has the fans reaction to the appointment of Rafa Benitez really shocked Roman enough for him to hold his hands up and bring back the man that started our golden age?
If that means without Michael Emenalo then so be it.
