TORRES SIGNS FIVE AND A HALF YEAR DEAL!

Comments

Source taken from Chelsea FC

Fernando Torres tonight has signed a five and a half year deal at Chelsea. He said:
I am very happy with my transfer to Chelsea and I am looking forward very much to helping my new team-mates this season and for many years to come.

Having played against Chelsea many times since coming to England, and in some very big games I will never forget, I know there are many great players here and I will work hard to win a place in the team. I hope I can score some important goals for the supporters to enjoy this season.

Sturridge moves to Bolton.

Comments

Tonight amongst all the Chelsea news and exciting news at that, Chelsea have confirmed that Danny Sturridge has signed for Bolton on loan until the end of the season.

The statement on the official website here says:
Daniel Sturridge has this evening (Monday) joined Bolton Wanderers on loan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old forward will link up with Owen Coyle's squad hoping to add to his 21 appearances this season, in which time he has scored four times, most recently against Ipswich Town in the FA Cup on January 9.

It represents an opportunity for the Birmingham-born England Under 21 international to try and gain more Premier League starts, as he is yet to begin a league game this season.
In total Sturridge has played 41 times for Chelsea, scoring nine times. We wish him well for the rest of the season.

Torres and Luiz to sign before deadline?

Comments

Short news update for you all before anything is officially confirmed. It's seems Liverpool are resigned to losing Torres so have signed Andy Carroll for a ridiculous fee of around £35m.

David Luiz is reported to be on a plane to Cobham to finalise personal terms over a deal worth around £25m with £18-20m being paid up front and Fernando Torres is expected to complete a medical and sign before 2300 tonight!

If these two signings come off then what an amazing day for Chelsea!

Deadline Day - A good day or another let down?

Comments

So here we are. In just over 12 hours time the transfer window will slam shut until the end of the season. As you all know we have been linked with a few players ever since the window opened and once again we arrive at the last day of the window and nothing at all from Chelsea. So I am wondering if by 2300GMT tonight if we will have news of movements at the club or if we sit here waiting and nothing happens once again.

We hear that Liverpool want £50m for Torres, Liverpool would possibly want Nicolas Anelka as part of the deal but then we hear that Anelka isn't interested and also the speculation surrounding Danny Sturridge and interest in him from Bolton. Let's also not forget David Luiz, is the deal dead or will it be resurrected today?

I just hope that after all the speculation that something does happen today and we do sign Torres. Imagine yet another transfer window with Chelsea being linked with a big name signing and nothing happens!. Ideally I would like to see Luiz come to the club aswell as Torres but I guess those days of spending £70m on two players are over......aren't they?

Bolton after Sturridge on loan?

Comments

There are strong rumours surrounding Danny Sturridge. We have seen reports that he could be used as part of an exchange deal for Fernando Torres but I have to say I am not sure that Chelsea would be happy to let him go just yet. A report has appeared here stating that after losing out on Carlos Vela to West Brom, Bolton boss Owen Coyle is interested in taking Sturridge on loan after Chelsea have indicated that they are ready to let him go for the remainder of the season.

I think if we do sign Torres, then it's clear that Sturridge wouldn't see a lot of first team football at the Bridge so my view is that he should go out and play regular football. I wonder if it would just be Bolton interested before the deadline closes at 2300 GMT tomorrow?

Everton 1-1 Chelsea - It's good we have another chance after this one.

Comments

Like many of you Chelsea fans yesterday, I was really looking forward to seeing Chelsea kick on from two good performances in the Premier League and hopefully to get a result at Everton. I'd mentioned in my preview that it would be a difficult game and we would need to play well to get a result. It's just a shame thinking about it now that I was right as it was a difficult game and we needed to play well to get the result. The fact Chelsea didn't play well and were lucky enough to come away with a draw is the only thing I can take from the game yesterday.

Anelka wanted by Liverpool?.

Comments

This morning there is continued speculation that surrounds the possible transfer of Fernando Torres coming to Chelsea but it seems as though this one has taken another further twist. The general consensus of opinion is that Torres will be leaving Liverpool at some stage. Now whether this is by tomorrow evening's deadline or in the Summer is another thing. If it is to be by tomorrow then Liverpool are believed to want Nicolas Anelka as part exchange.

So I am just wondering if this is something that Chelsea would even entertain. From our point of view we are looking to build on our existing squad so what's the point of using Anelka as part exchange. It's bad enough we have no other options that are used by Ancelotti apart from Kalou to play down the right hand side.

On the other hand, his age could be seen as something Chelsea would need to address as look at what happened to Ballack for example last Summer. He has been at Liverpool before and knows that the club is all about and the Liverpool fans took to him when he was there.

I just wonder if Chelsea would be willing to let him go to get Torres. What do you the fans think? Chelsea fans would you be happy to let Anelka go? Liverpool fans would you want him? and Chelsea fans if Torres came to the club with Anelka leaving would you see Carlo employ a new 4-4-2 formation with Drogba and Torres as the focus up front?.

Imagine that, Torres and Drogba up front! What a combination!

Leave your thoughts and opinions below. I for one would understand if we kept him and also if the club decided to let him leave. It's a tough one to call.

Everton v Chelsea: Lampard to return as we look to kick on.

Chelsea travel to Goodison Park in the FA CUP's lunchtimes kick off and it's a game I am really looking forward to. We've turned the corner, look like we have confidence back and are scoring goals again and I expect Chelsea to kick on from our fantastic result at Bolton on Monday.

However, Everton away is always a hard game as they give everything for each other, the manager and their fans and will see the FA CUP as a welcome distraction. As we all know (especially this season) anyone can beat anyone on their day and Everton will look to get a result against us. Chelsea need to play well to get a result.

Now it's time for Liverpool to take the money for Torres.

Comments

I posted earlier today that he would be doing it and the Official Liverpool website has confirmed that Torres has handed them an official transfer request. The statement on Liverpool's website reads:
"Fernando Torres tonight submitted a written transfer request, which has been rejected by Liverpool. Fernando is under a long-term contract and the Club expects him to honour the commitment he made to Liverpool FC and its supporters when he signed the agreement."
So it's official confirmation that he wants out. All those Liverpool fans that have kindly taken the time to post comments on my blog all day about Torres never leaving and don't believe it blah blah blah, now have to face the reality of football and success.

Everton v Chelsea: The View from Goodison Park.

Comments

Ahead of our big FA CUP clash at Goodison Park tomorrow here is the view from www.themerseyjuror.co.uk.

As an Evertonian I am in no way looking forward to this game. Things off the pitch are taking over for us at the minute. We are absolutely skint, will not (by the looks of it) be making any additions to the squad. We have let 3 of our 1st team squad go in Pienaar, Yakubu and Vaughan. Our squad is so poor but the club are ran so badly by Bill Kenwrong that there is nothing we can do about it so we will have to go with what we have got.

"Unfortunately Fernando has decided he wants to leave Liverpool. It is a very sad day for all of us, but now we have to wait and see what the club decides. It is clear this is the last thing Kenny Dalglish expected although it has been clear for some time that Torres' patience has run out."

David Luiz deal off?

Comments

More twists and turns this afternoon (expect a whole lot more before the deadline by the way) but it seems that Benfica have announced the Stock Exchange that the deal with Chelsea has been terminated for David Luiz.

"No agreement with Chelsea for transfer of sporting and economic rights of athlete David Luiz. Negotiations have ended".

Is this deal really dead or are Benfica still holding our for more money, especially now as seeing Chelsea looking to splash the cash on Torres too!.

More to follow. What do you think? Should we continue to chase this guy or do you believe the money is better invested elsewhere?. What about Bruma, should we keep hold of him or loan him out?.

I personally would be surprised if this is dead in the water, but again nothing confirmed by Chelsea so we sit, watch and wait for developments.

I personally believe he should play. Maybe give Ramires a break and slot Lampard right back in there as he has a great habit of scoring at Goodison.

What do you people think?. Should be make a change after the good performance and result against Bolton?

Fernando Torres wants to leave Liverpool?.

Comments

Following on from last night's breaking news of Fernando Torres and a second bid by Chelsea for the player that has been rejected by Liverpool, and after asking you the fans your opinion, it seems that this story has taken another twist with "reports" of Fernando Torres asking Liverpool to reconsider Chelsea's offer!!.

I broke the news on here last night, asked your opinion on whether or not we should sign him and also stated on here that it seems that Roman has sparked a rebuild at the club, but this news is stunning to say the least.

Now if this IS the case, then surely the player will be leaving Liverpool which being honest I do find surprising. Of course this could be just pure speculation and if it is, then I hold my hands up to being sucked into it right now.

Then again, it could be the case that Torres has finally had enough and wants to come to Chelsea after rejecting them once already.

What do you think? Does Torres want to leave Liverpool?

New bid for Fernando Torres, desperation or a sign of intent?

Comments

As reported here last night we all became immediately aware of Chelsea's second attempt to sign Fernando Torres. A reported bid (although at the time of writing this article not confirmed by Chelsea) of around £40m has been turned down by Liverpool.

As you will imagine the press, media sites and blog sites (including mine of course) were quick to cover the story and have their own individual take on things, but there is one article tonight that appears here in the Telegraph that has got me thinking as they state that our new bid for the Spaniard is an "Act of desperation!". I am wondering if it is or if it's a sign a intent from Abramovich and from Chelsea.

Anyone else getting bored of waiting for news!?

Comments

I guess we should all be well aware that Chelsea never comment on any transfer rumours or stories unless they have reason to do so. We hear today that Benfica released a statement to confirm they have received an offer for David Luiz from Chelsea and said:
"A negotiation process is currently ongoing and the market will be informed when it is completed."
So at least that's something. I posted on here if Luiz was signed in time, I would expect him to go straight into the side to face Everton but it doesn't look like it will happen.

With Chelsea being Chelsea, we will not hear anything until the deal is completed. I am just bored of waiting now, aren't you!?

Luiz - Have we lost out?

Comments

There have been reports this morning that the deal to sign David Luiz is on the verge of collapse and I have to wonder why. At the moment the information we have to work with is that Benfica are negotiating a deal with the majority of the transfer fee being paid up front by Chelsea and not in installments.

ESPN have stated on their website the following:
"The problem is over no more than £1 million. There is a lot of work to be done to get this deal through, if it is at all possible to do so.

The truth is that Benfica don't want to sell, as they think they will get far more money for Luiz in the summer, so they won't budge from their stance of wanting £25 million, and there are further complications over the way the money is then split once it gets to Benfica."
The article also states that Benfica want as much money as they can as a percentage of the monies paid will go to their investment fund Benfica stars and additional payments made to Luiz's former clubs.

For me it's a no brainer but then again I am not the owner of Chelsea Football Club or the Accountant. I would just pay the bloody money and get the deal done but I guess in football nowadays deals are never that straightforward.

I just hope that something happens to appease Benfica and we can get the boy signed!.

Ok, the longest running transfer saga still rumbles on this morning. You can read everything you like on David Luiz that has been reported on here and in the media and at the moment we still haven't had any official confirmation from Chelsea, but we never do until the job is done and the deal is complete. I have to say I believe the deal will be completed this week as today is the day that Luiz is rumoured to be having his work permit hearing after having a medical yesterday.

Now whether it's just a straight cash deal or a player exchange I am confident it will be done and I wouldn't be surprised if Luiz steps straight into the side to face Everton on Saturday.

Abramovich to invest heavily in Chelsea once again?

Comments

Breaking news tonight that Chelsea have had a bid worth 52m Euro's rejected by Atletico Madrid from Sergio Aguero and Diego Godin. The BBC has covered the story here.

For me it's very interesting because as you can imagine the rumours and speculation will run wild now until the window closes at the end of this month, but after Carlo spoke last night and stated that Luiz was the only one, it now seems as though Carlo was pulling our leg or in fact he isn't aware once again of the Owner's intentions.

The key point here that is made by the BBC in their article is a quote from a so-called Chelsea Spokesperson who said:
"We never comment on transfer speculation, no matter how wild it is,"
So what are we to believe? Has Carlo sold us a fib just to take the focus away from what the club are really doing? Or is this once again a case of the players agent and club looking to use our name once more in order to try and obtain the biggest price/fee for their player with news of a bid being rejected by Madrid from their rivals Real'?.

However, if this is in fact the case and Chelsea have bid 52m Euros then the news should excite us all. The fact that the club are seriously considering investing in the squad once again with players of that ability is surely a good sign for Chelsea. The fact the bid has been rejected could trigger a wealth of activity with the club looking at other "big" targets to come in before the window closes.

One thing is for sure, we will carry on being linked with all sorts of names but until we hear official word from the club, it's anyone's guess!.

Luiz IS the only one in Jan. Is this enough?.

Comments

The David Luiz transfer to Chelsea has gained momentum in recent times and more or less came to a head over the weekend. Speaking after we beat Bolton 4-0 last night, Carlo Ancelotti was asked about the imminent signing of the player and for the first time admitted that we are trying to sign him and that he would be the only player we are looking to bring into the club in this January transfer window.

Carlo said:
"I think that we are trying to find a solution," He is a good player, a very good player, young, and now we have to wait and see. We have not agreed, again. We will try, but if it's not possible, nothing has changed.

Now, he is the only signing that we will try to do. We have to see."
Looking back on recent weeks, we had been linked with Steven Pienaar to which Carlo denied even talking to the player, linked with a mega money move for Sanchez and also Simon Kjaer last weekend in case the Luiz deal never went through.

Alot of you have aired your opinions on all these players, especially on Luiz after I posted a video of the player and what he could bring to Chelsea. Now with the confirmation that a deal hopefully will be agreed I want to hear from you all again.

For me, it's very difficult to look in January at areas we need to improve and get the right players in. Let's be honest and realistic here, if all our players are fit we can all name our first eleven. I will now. Cech, Ivanovic, Alex, Terry, Cole, Mikel, Lampard, Essien, Anelka, Drogba and Malouda.

I think we can all agree that this is possibly our best eleven give or take one position (Mikel). So imagine how hard it is for the club to identify someone to come in and take a start from any one of those players if they sign in Jan. Do you think that Luiz would command a start in front of Alex, Terry or Ivanovic when he signs?. I don't.

It's all well and good for people to come on here and reel off a list of top European names or promising youngsters, but again I urge you all to be realistic here. We have to think of the future of the club and take into effect the new UEFA financial fair play ruling and also the homegrown ruling before any moves for players can be identified.

So there you go, I have had my say and now it's time you for all to have yours. With Carlo confirming that it will be just Luiz that Chelsea are looking to bring into the club and not anyone else, I am wondering how you all feel about the news.

So I am asking you the question:
Are you happy with just Luiz or do we realistically need more?

PREVIEW: Bolton v Chelsea. Part two of the defining seven games.

I wrote ahead of the Blackburn game on here that Chelsea's next seven League games will go along way to defining our season. We won the first game as you all know 2-0 and now it's time tonight for Bolton away which is no easy game by any stretch of the imagination. Bolton normally play well against Chelsea, have players who always play well against us and Chelsea need to earn the right to win the game tonight. With news the other day that representatives from Benfica had travelled to London over the course of the weekend to negotiate a deal for David Luiz with Chelsea, it now seems as deal has been agreed and the player is due in London for a medical with the club within the next couple of days.

I posted up a video of the player and I think anyone who saw it was impressed with the players ability. The fee is believed to be around £21.5m and will be Chelsea's biggest outlay on a transfer fee for five years, a fact that will surprise a few people. People have had their opinion's on the player and also the fee but I have to say it's a good investment. Luiz looks quick, is two footed and can play anywhere across the back four.

Should Carlo stick to our philosophy?

Comments

Carlo has spoken about our recent poor form and especially our away form heading into the game at Bolton tonight. Without a win away in the Premier League since October, Carlo was asked about our philosophy and whether or not a change of style would be on the cards. He said:
“For Chelsea to win games, we have to play good football. We are not able to win games if we do not play well, We played very well last season and when we didn’t play well, we lost games, just as we have this season. Our aim is to improve our football. This is the way to win games. It is our philosophy.

We don’t want to stay back and maybe use the long ball or use the counter-attack. We want to play a different football so maybe this is also the reason that if we don’t play well we are vulnerable.

We want to follow this way because we think this is the right way for the club, for myself, for the players. We have great skill and ability to play this kind of football.

I thought a lot of times that it would be good to change something in the squad, the shape maybe, but we have been working with this shape for a year and a half. It’s good to change if there is a reason. If the players are not comfortable playing this kind of football, then we could change but after asking the players if the style was good, I decided not to change.”
Once again from our manager you have to hand it to him for his honesty and belief in what he is trying to do at the club. After all, it was a change in his philosophy from the bloody diamond midfield that led us to the double. Credit to him for that.

It must have been hard for Carlo so see our form take a tumble and more than not you would have imagined Carlo would make changes to the system when he knew we had key players injured but I guess he is right when he says about working on this approach for a year and a half, it's not so simple and you cannot expect players to be able to adapt quickly between games.

The only thing that concerns me is the point I didn't really want Carlo to make as he more or less confirms what the other sides we come up against think about us these days, he stated we are vulnerable!.

Of course we all know at times we have been, but I believe we are working on this, and will put this right. With a clean sheet against Blackburn, we can kick on tonight with another one at Bolton.

However, if you know you are vulnerable then wouldn't you work on the way you play to ensure you remain tight and compact defensively when you do not have the ball?. I know they have been and will continue to do so.

So I am asking you the fans the question:
Do you think we should have changed our philosophy and if so when?

Andrey Arshavin to Chelsea? - No thanks!

Comments

I have to say the rumour started off in the News of the World today about Chelsea looking to make a move for Andrey Arshavin in the summer has surprised me. First of all I can't see Arsenal looking to sell him to another Premier League club. Secondly I think if earlier reports in the week are to be believed, he will look to head back home to Russia and finally I can't see Chelsea making a move for him just because he is mates with Roman Abramovich.

My own personal opinion of Arshavin is that going forward he is quality but maybe at times lacks a quicker ball. Maybe that's because he used to play behind the front man for Zenit and now for Arsenal he is deployed out on the left wing. However, I have an issue with the player when he doesn't have the ball.

Will Didier Drogba leave Chelsea for Real Madrid?.

Comments

Well well well!, the big news today is that Jose Mourinho has turned his attention to Didier Drogba after deciding against moving for Emmanuel Adebayor. There are reports that Jose wants Didier to link up with him in Madrid and to be honest this story has left me wondering "I wonder if he would be interested in leaving? and would Chelsea now stand in his way?".

The reason I am wondering about all this today is because of Drogba's age pure and simple. Didier is 32 and by the end of next season would be 33. Michael Ballack was in the same situation and we saw what happened to him as far as his time at Chelsea was concerned. I know Didier is a different player and is an integral part of the side, more than Ballack ever was, but will his age play a massive part in the club possibly thinking of letting him go.

Comments

Now I have been holding off on writing this blog post for a couple of months now in the hope that his form would improve and things would get back to normal. Let's be honest it hasn't at all and finally I believe (in light of this article about Malouda) it's time to have my say on things (an encourage all of you reading this to do the same by commenting below).

The blistering start to the season following on from last season is well and truly in the past as far as watching Malouda is concerned. The smile on his face has gone on the pitch and has been replaced with an attitude at times that resembles someone who feels as though he has "issues" and a problem with everything going on around him.

Benfica fly to London after plan backfires?

Comments

With the news of Chelsea making a bid that has reportedly been accepted for Simon Kjaer it seems that Benfica have possibly realised that they have talked themselves out of a deal with Chelsea. SkySports.com has run an article today to state that "Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira flew to London in the company of agent Giuliano Bertolucci to hold talks with Chelsea over a potential move".

I have posted on my blog enough times about Luiz including a video of the player I found on YouTube because I don't know about the rest of you, but I was aware of the player but didn't really know of him. The Video showcased the qualities the player has so you can understand why Chelsea have been interested in him. However, it's Benfica insisting that Chelsea pay well over the odds and refusing to budge on any other negotiation that has stalled the deal.

Simon Kjaer to sign on Monday?

Comments

David Luiz and Chelsea's reported interest has taken many of the recent headlines but it seems that Chelsea have become frustrated at Benfica's unwillingness to budge on their asking price for the player. So in light of the situation it seems that Carlo has persuaded the club to take an interest in Simon Kjaer of Wolfsburg.

Ancelotti on Pienaar, David Luiz and Kakuta to Fulham.

Comments

Carlo Ancelotti has spoken today of the transfer window and has revealed that he never met with Steven Pienaar, about the Luiz situation and also Gael Kakuta's possible loan move to neighbours Fulham.

Carlo said of Pienaar:
'You have to ask Pienaar, not me. I didn't speak with him. I never met in my life Steven Pienaar. I didn't search Steven Pienaar to come here to play for Chelsea. We don't need a midfielder, we don't need to have these kind of players.'

Carlo on Luiz:
'Luiz is not here and I think he will not be available for the game! so it is not right to speak about this. I am waiting for the end of the transfer market, if there are new players it means we needed to have these players, if not it means we didn't need to.'

Carlo on Kakuta:
'We are thinking about it, It is good for our young players to play games and we are thinking about this, but we didn't take a decision about Kakuta.'
(Source:Chelseafc.com)

Nothing but truth and honesty from Carlo on all these rumours. When do you hear a Manager openly admit he has had an enquiry from Fulham from a youngster and is thinking about it, before you hear only the confirmation come through at a later date. I have had my say on the Kakuta deal here so make sure you check it out.

As for Pienaar, very strange. Why would he say what he has and then Carlo reveals he never spoke with him? Could it be that the players agent was trying to get his player a better deal?. Then again, I posted on here about the deal, it was obvious that the board wanted the player but Carlo put the end to it as he didn't want him. I wonder if everything is A-OK behind the scenes as I have asked before.

As for David Luiz, I posted a Video of him on here the other day. To me he is someone we need and at the age he is would be a solid investment. Carlo gives the impression that we are defiantly talking to Benfica, but will the deal come off.

So the impression we have from Carlo is "If something happens it does, if it doesn't then it doesn't" which indicates to me once again, it's now out of his hands.

What do you guys think of Carlo's press conference and everything stated?

Kakuta's possible loan to Fulham?...WHAT!?

Comments

Am I the only Chelsea fan around that calls to question a loan agreement between Chelsea and Fulham for Gael Kakuta??. Firstly I can see from Mark Hughes and Fulham's point of view the reason as to why they want to take him to the Cottage. Let's hold our hands up and be honest, he would probably play more football there then he would at the Bridge. He would provide Hughes with an option of someone who has that spark to do something in a game whether its a mazy dribble, selling the defender a step over or two or even creating and scoring goals.

Drogba makes some good points for a change.

Comments

Didier Drogba is featured in an interview here speaking once again of Chelsea's form and the need to win consecutive games first before thinking of a push for the Premier League title.

He said:
Instead of thinking about winning the title, we should think about winning two consecutive games. Then we'll see. It's not a joke, it's true. We have to think about winning two consecutive games. That's being realistic and it shows how badly we've been doing for the last month and a half. It's something that has to change and we're not far from that.

Now everybody is coming back from injuries it is going to help us. When you don't win games, yeah, you lose confidence. The only way to get back your confidence and be able to say we can still win the league would be to win two or three consecutive games.

We've had a lot of injured players and the team has changed from last year. We lost five great players in Michael Ballack, Juliano Belletti, Deco, Ricardo Carvalho and Joe Cole. We replaced them with young players like Jeffrey Bruma, Gael Kakuta, Josh McEachran and Patrick van Aanholt. They are good players but need time to adapt.

What happened is just that the season is very long. I said during that time that maybe some difficult moments would come, so we'd have to be sure that these moments wouldn't be long. Unfortunately, it's longer than what we thought it would be.

I've had malaria and surgery before the beginning of the season for my hernia to make sure I'll be okay for the next few years. I won't say I'm happy because we're having a difficult moment, but when you look at the amount of games I've played and the number of goals and assists I've had, I know it's not the best, but it's not bad.

I can continue to improve that. I'm not worried about my performance. What is really important for me is for the team to go back to the winning way. If we win the league and I score only ten goals, for me it's fine."

It was really bad, so bad that it lasted two months, It should be something that could be solved in a few weeks. At first the tests didn't show that it was malaria. The doctor thought it was 'flu, so that's why we lost time.

While we thought it was 'flu I was playing, because for me I can handle 'flu. I lost fitness, but I was working hard and trying to help the team. For me to be playing now, it's already a good start because it was a difficult moment for me to have malaria. Very difficult.

(Of Ray Wilkins and his departure from the club)
"He was part of the team for a bit more than two years. But even when he was there we lost some games, Last year we had a bad moment as well when he was there. I think it's not about Ray leaving the club. It's about the players not being able to play at their best, including me. For sure we'll win a lot of games and lose some games, but it's not an individual that would make a big difference like this in our results. I think it's collective, the team.
What do you think of what he is saying?. I agree with him, we need to take each game as it comes as I said on here before that the next seven games (including Blackburn) would define our season. Bolton away on a Monday night is no easy game but the way we played against Blackburn showed me that we are getting back on the road to playing our football again.

He also makes a good point about the players who left and who they have been replaced with. It will take time for any youngster to come into the side to be able to cope with step up so soon especially with all the problems we have had.

Finally, he makes a good point about Wilkins. He is right, he was there during the bad moments and the good. However, I do think as I also said on here that Chelsea and Carlo miss that link man between him and the players.

PIENAAR. Carlo not bothered but how will the board react?.

Comments

This article in the Star this morning quoted a "source" close to the player himself more or less confirms what we all have been thinking about Chelsea's transfer policy as it stands these days. Carlo doesn't really have a say.

This so called "source" is quoted as saying:
When Steven met Ancelotti he said very little and did not seem that bothered if he signed or not.
So what other explanation could there be other than it's now the board going after targets and Carlo is just expected to coach them and play them when required.

You can see why the board would be interested in Pienaar and that would be to bolster our squad as let's face it, as I said the other day, I couldn't see him as a regular starter at the Bridge. However for just £2.5m, Chelsea would have seen someone with Premier League experience.

I wonder how well that comment would have been taken at Board Room level if it was in fact Roman that instructed them to go ahead and agree a deal with Everton?.

LAMPARD: Only a minor problem, should play against Bolton.

Comments

Like the rest of you, I thought to myself "Oh no!" when I heard the news that Frank Lampard limped out of training yesterday. Well, Lampard has had a scan and the Official Club Website has confirmed that it's only a minor problem.

The statement reads:
Frank Lampard is suffering from a minor calf problem which will be monitored over the next few days.

The midfielder, who has played every minute of our last six matches since Christmas, is expected to be available for Bolton on Monday night.
Let's hope that it settles down and heals asap so Lampard can take to the pitch at the Reebok on Monday.

It's about time!. Ashley Cole get's some credit for once!.

Comments

People who follow football and the tabloids in this country are well aware of Ashley Cole. Unfortunately it's the reports in the tabloids documenting what goes on outside football that dominate headlines more often than not. Tonight there is not a single article featured on the tabloid sites that I can find from our press confirming a positive for once that Ashley Cole has been voted into the UEFA team of the year and is the only English player and Premier League representative selected by the 400,000 voters.

I for one do not care what Cole does or doesn't do away from Chelsea as he has his own life to lead away from football. Of course everyone is aware of what he has done in the past and Cole will always be given stick by away supporters and England fans because he is an easy target. It's the footballer that Ashley Cole is and has become that should take precedent and hopefully this award is the turning point as far as the press is concerned.

Cole is quite simply (as the vote confirms) the best left back in the world right now and we should never ever dress it down. One of the most successful domestic players in his position and his desire to continue to succeed and to remain the best is there for all to see.

Ashley Cole will remain as one of the first names on the team sheet each week and rightly so. His ability to affect a game in defensive areas in addition to the final third is fantastic and if there are any young left backs coming into the game who want to learn their trade and are looking for a role model on the pitch then they should take a look at Ashley Cole.

It remains to be seen for how long Cole will remain the target for abuse from the terraces and if it will ever die down. For me Ashley Cole is now up there with the John Terry's and Frank Lampard's at Chelsea and there is no one I would rather have in that position.

So it's congratulations to Cole for his inclusion. It's about time Ashley Cole gets some credit for once!.

Chelsea to keep Bosingwa for another year. Yes or No?

Comments

News has broken this afternoon that Chelsea will take up the option of keeping Jose Bosingwa at the club for another season in the summer. I have to say when it comes to Jose Bosingwa I still think that the jury is out. I am not 100% convinced and never really have been. Don't get me wrong, he is fantastic going forward (even though at times it's his final ball or cross that let's him down) however, it's the defensive side of things that have always concerned me about him.

My own opinion of Bosingwa may or may not be the same as the rest of you but you have to say if were a Manager setting up your team to face Chelsea, you would look at Bosingwa as the weak link and look to attack us down that side.

For me, Ivanovic HAS to play there when everyone is fit. Ivanovic is a solid defender first of all and then is willing to get forward. Both are stronger than the other in opposite halves of the pitch, but for me I would always stick the better defender there first over the attacking ability of our right back.

Bosingwa is only 28 and would be signed in my opinion just as cover in that position for the additional option of a year by Chelsea until they can bring in someone else in that position. So from that point of view I can see how keeping Bosingwa for another season is of benefit to the club.

So after reading my thoughts and opinions on Bosingwa, I would love to hear your views. Do you agree with keeping him for an additional year? Do you agree with my opinion?

Ivanovic's new deal is signing of season so far.

Comments

We had news all over the place this morning that Branislav Ivanovic is about to sign a new 4-year deal at Chelsea and for me anyway, this is the signing of the season so far for us Chelsea fans as I stated back in October. Ivanovic is one of the best and most solid defenders in the Premier League and in the last two seasons has really proved his worth at the club.

We have read a rumour before that his agent has expressed the players frustrations at not being played in his right position at centre back, but for now for me he is a much better right back and will more than likely slot in there once Alex returns from injury or if we sign David Luiz before the window closes.

After a not so comfortable start at centre back, Ivanovic is really coming into his own and I am sure will develop into World Class in the seasons to come.

I know there is speculation about Luiz signing and Sanchez yesterday, but for me right now if Chelsea can get this new contract agreed and signed it WILL BE the signing of the season.

(Video) Introducing David Luiz and are we about to sign him?

Comments

After speculation started since back in the Summer, it's seems that Benfica could be about to sell David Luiz to Chelsea for around £20-£25m in the coming weeks.

As we all know Chelsea had a bid rejected for the Brazilian back in the summer as Benfica refused to do any kind of business with us unless we met the £43m release clause inserted into his contract which is my opinion, was never going to be met by Chelsea or anyone.

Since then and with our well documented injury problems, it seems that Chelsea's interest in the Luiz has continued and Benfica are well aware that Chelsea want their man, more so than ever.

With the transfer window closing in a couple of weeks time and with Benfica making a move to sign Jardel as a possible replacement for David Luiz, could it be a move made to indicate they are willing to finally sell to Chelsea?. I wonder also if Paulo Ferreira will remain part of the deal?.

One things for sure, we will know by Feb 1st if Chelsea have got their man. Now I don't personally know alot about the player so have posted this video below to show you guys what the fuss is all about. What I can say is that he is too footed, plays anywhere across the back four, good in the air and likes a tackle. Perfect for our back four!. Have a watch and let me know what you think!.

So what do you think? Should we sign him?

Do you play Sport? Ever considered cover against Injury?

Comments

I am just wondering if any of you Chelsea fans reading this play any kind of Sport at all?. The reason I am asking is because I used to play football myself until around five years ago when during a game I was kneed in the lower back and due to injury I was forced to quit playing.

I spent three weeks off of work as I couldn't stand up and when I returned to work I was advised that for future, if I wanted to continue playing (even though at the time I had hoped I had some chance of playing again) I would need to take out my own insurance cover to protect myself if something this like was to happen again.

Of course I didn't have any insurance but it opened my eyes to the possibility of having some kind of peace of mind that you will be protected while taking part in the sport you love.

Now whether it's Football, Rugby or any other kind of Sport you love doing then I suggest you head over to who offer you sports team insurance.

If you are a keen Cricketer and are keen to play following the success of the England side in the Ashes or you play already and are looking forward to getting going again in the Summer then make sure you team has Cricket club insurance.

If you or your club already has an insurance premium then you do have the option to take out sports top up insurance as an option.

Don't take for granted playing sport while you can and make sure you think of personal Sports Insurance just in case you will ever need it.

For me, I had to stop playing but there isn't a Saturday that goes past when the season is on that I don't miss the banter of being with the lads and playing football.

Check out your Insurance options now!.

Time for Tottenham fans to get some perspective.

Listen, Everyone is saying about how good a season Spurs are having right now and that's fair enough. Everyone is saying that they are worthy title contenders and that may be the case. Everyone is saying that they have one of the strongest squads in the Premier League (Even though a fair few of them want to bugger off as they have no chance of a game anytime soon!) which could be a fair point and I have no argument with the fantastic job Arry has done there. However people are saying Chelsea's season has fallen apart. So I just want to point out one thing... WE'RE STILL ABOVE YOU!.

Linked with £25m Sanchez - Who is he?

Comments

Now if you are like me and am wondering what the fuss is all about with news today that Chelsea have been linked with a £25m (30m Euros) deal for Chilean winger Alexis Sanchez then make sure you check out the video taken from YouTube below.

Udinese have confirmed that Chelsea are in talks for the winger. Owner Giampaolo Pozzo has said:
With Chelsea we talked about €30million. I want this figure, if not more. It is useless to talk about something we do not want to do because we cannot remove someone from the team when we're halfway through a season. There was also interest from Inter Milan, which we decided to stop.

So without hearing anything from Chelsea, we have a possible confirmed move for this 22 year old who has become in recent seasons, one of the hottest properties in Europe.

Could Chelsea be ready to make their move before the window closes?

After watching the video I would like to know what you guys think. Is this someone we should be looking to sign?

Pienaar confirms on Twitter he's joining Spurs.

Comments

So after news of Chelsea being interested and then having a bid for Pienaar accepted the other day, it's been confirmed by the player himself on his official Twitter page that he has signed for Spurs.

The question remains as to why he would pick Spurs over Chelsea?. There had been rumours that he wanted £75K per week and Chelsea were not interested in paying that figure to a player who wouldn't command a regular first team place so does that mean he is on that money at Spurs?.

It's surely has to be down to playing regular football if you ask me. Why on earth would you turn down Chelsea for Spurs for any other reason?

Some Chelsea fans will think that it's no loss anyway. However what do you people think?.

Forlan and Godin linked with double Chelsea swoop?

Comments

In the Mirror this morning, rumours are also rife that Chelsea are looking to bolster their defensive and attacking options by looking at Diego Godin and Diego Forlan at Athletico Madrid.

Godin is valued at £15m and would provide cover for Alex who remains out for another month. For me I haven't really seen alot of this bloke so would need your opinions for those who have seen him.

For me it's a possible move for Diego Forlan that would be the most exciting. I think being honest we have all been impressed with the amount of goals Forlan has been scoring since he left United. His record in Spain is fantastic and he was one of the stars of the show at this past Summers World Cup.

A striker with fantastic ability and an eye for a goal from all areas of the pitch, this one would really give Chelsea the firepower we have been lacking.

He has always said he was happy in Spain but has recently become unsettled maybe?. He said:
"I'm happy at Atletico, but I was happy at Villarreal and I left."
What do you guys think?

Chelsea linked to £6m Niko Kranjcar?

Comments

In the Daily Star this morning, they have run an article stating that Chelsea have an eye on Tottenham's Niko Kranjcar after Harry Redknapp has said he can leave Spurs at the right price.

Now I think anyone that follows football and especially the Premier League knows that things haven't gone the way the player would have expected and he hasn't played anywhere near enough there so I just wondered if this is just another example of the players agent using our name to gain his player a better deal somewhere else or if there is in fact any truth in this at all?.

There is no question he is a good player and very talented. An important part of the Croatian national side, he will have no shortage of offers. However, once again I am wondering where he could fit in. He can play in the middle or wide right but do we have enough there already?

What do you guys think of this one?

Chelsea 2-0 Blackburn - Much better from Chelsea.

Comments

It was a good and much needed win on Saturday against Blackburn. A game we had to win and Chelsea delivered with two goals but overall a much more dominant and impressive performance. The big guns came back into the side as Chelsea lined up with Cech, Bosingwa, Ivanovic, Terry (C), Cole, Essien, Ramires, Lampard, Anelka, Drogba and Malouda. Carlo reverting back to his best 11 players available from the side that beat Ipswich.

Chelsea started off well which was encouraging and Ramires smacked the bar on 2 minutes. So close to his first goal for Chelsea and a sign that he is getting used to the way we play and finds himself much more involved going forward.

We were playing with urgency and we dominating possession of the ball which again was better. On 18 minutes Essien headed wide and Drogba shot over the bar shortly after but the signs were encouraging. Blackburn had lined up quite defensive and were looking to remain compact but gradually Chelsea were finding their way through.

Just after the half hour Drogba had another chance as he looked to be through on goal but his touch let him down and allowed the defender to clear the ball when knowing just how good Didier is in those positions when he is confident and scoring goals, you would have expected him to score.

Blackburn then forced Cech into a save low down from Hoilett which was totally against the run of play. It was a good save from Cech. Anelka then fired wide, Lampard headed the ball over the bar under pressure from the defender as Chelsea once again grabbed a foothold on the game.

Then the best chance of the game came for Anelka. Didier Drogba drifted out wide right and the ball was played out to him, he played a fantastic cross towards the near post and Anelka onto it like a flash ahead of his defender, managed to get a touch on the ball but it was too much as the ball flicked up and hit the crossbar and rebounded clear. A great finish to the half from Chelsea with Anelka just centimetres away from making it 1-0 at the break.

Chelsea took to the second half and carried on where they left off. Anelka had the first chance of the half but fired just wide from 18 yards. Chelsea were once again well in control of the game with Blackburn dropping deeper and deeper. You felt it would only be a matter of time..

Chelsea took the lead from a corner. Malouda's corner was met at the near post around 12 yards from goal by JT. His header was well off target but found Ivanovic just outside the far post 6 yards out. He managed to control the ball, take a touch and hit a shot on the swivel that caught Salgado and Robinson on the line by surprise, Robinson couldn't get down to the shot in time and the ball found it's way into the net. Good finish from the big man.

With that you knew Blackburn would have to come out and change their approach to the game but offered very little. Chelsea were playing with their swagger once again and forced more chances. The first was a half chance for JT who's awareness of his position within the Blackburn box nearly paid off. Up for a corner half cleared, the ball came out to Lampard just outside the box. Lampard shaped up to half volley the ball towards the near post but miss-hit his attempt however, JT alive to the situation about 6 yards outside the near post, headed the ball back across goal towards the far post and the ball went inches wide.

Didier Drogba then was next up to miss one. A poor back pass saw Drogba onto it and as he moved closer to the box, Robinson came off his line and Drogba's shot was blocked. Again, you would have put money on Drogba to score.

From the corner that followed Chelsea made it 2-0 from a second set piece. Malouda's corner was met by Ivanovic and he header goal wards was flicked past Robinson from close range by Anelka!. 2-0 Chelsea and we knew then it was game over.

Chelsea saw out game making use of the subs on the bench. Kalou came on for Anelka, McEachran came on for Essien and Sturridge came on for Malouda. All of them looked hungry with young Josh knocking the ball about with ease.

Drogba fired over the bar and Sturridge looking to follow on from his goalscoring exploits rushed a couple of half chances and fired wide.

It was easy for Chelsea in the end but a really important three points after the result between United and Spurs yesterday.

For me it looks as though we have turned a corner as the overall performance was much much better. Our passing overall was better and the urgency in the game also had improved. Let's hope we can build on this next Monday night at Bolton.

Chelsea (4-3-3): Cech, Bosingwa, Ivanovic, JT (c) Cole; Ramires, Essien (McEachran 79), Lampard, Anelka (Kalou 79), Drogba, Malouda (Sturridge 86).

Scorers Ivanovic 56, Anelka 76.

Redknapp hints at Carlo's future and it's not good.

Comments

Hello everyone, sorry have had some problems with my pc which explains the lack of blog posts over the weekend. My take on the 2-0 win over Blackburn is to follow soon but one story has grabbed my attention today after I posted on here on Friday that to me things behind the scenes do not seem right at Chelsea.

Now I have taken some stick from a rival site on that post but it seems that Harry Redknapp has hinted that there are strange goings on at Chelsea these days.

It's all to do with the reported £3m deal Chelsea have offered Everton for Steven Pienaar. Now we all know that Carlo more or less denied any deal for the player in his press conference last Friday as he said:

'I read a lot of names in the papers, not just Pienaar. There are a lot of rumours, a lot of speculation and sometimes agents use the names to earn more money. I can just say that Pienaar is a good player, we know him very well, but this doesn't mean we need him to play here.

We are thinking about some players and if we find the right players we have the possibility to buy.'
(Source: Chelseafc.com)
but since he spoke the deal has taken a turn and it's believed that the player is discussing terms with Chelsea today.

Now we all know after David Moyes confirmed the deal offered by Chelsea for £3m after the game yesterday that Harry also had his say. Redknapp said:
'It's all very strange to me how they have suddenly offered £3million for him, The manager of Chelsea, who's a lovely guy and honest as the day is long, comes on television and denies they made an offer for Pienaar - so I don't know who has made the offer.

I've got my own ideas about the whole situation but I couldn't say. I think I do know what's happening but if I said I would be in big trouble.'
(Source:Metro)

So what do you all think? Is Harry way off or does he make sense. Now I will more than likely be slated again on here for running the story but you have to sit up and take notice.

I love Carlo, think the world of the bloke, but as my other post said, it doesn't seem 100% right behind the scenes in my own opinion. Why would Carlo say what he did about Pienaar and then Chelsea agree a fee of £3m for the player literally days after? Ok, it could have been a smokescreen but do you honestly believe that Pienaar is of enough quality to come and provide competition for places at Chelsea anyway?.
