Like alot of you have been in recent weeks, I have been asking for Carlo Ancelotti to revert back to the tried and trusted of old 4-3-3 formation playing with one striker through the middle and two wingers. Tonight he answered our prayers, adopted the 4-3-3 and it we played much better and scored five goals.

Tonight is by far the biggest game of Chelsea's season and who on earth would of said that after the Arsenal game at the Emirates. Since that game we have blown chance after chance to extend the lead at the top of the Premier League and its culminated in another two points dropped at Blackburn. We are now 4 points behind United with tonight as our game in hand. If we don't win you could more or less say our title chances are over.

I am hoping this Sunday at Ewood Park the rest of the Premiership will be watching Chelsea administer punishment to Blackburn for the events of this past week. Chelsea beat West Ham 4-1 at the Bridge on Saturday with goals from Alex, Didier Drogba (2) and Florent Malouda. Drogba will grab some headlines with this double strike but it was Florent Malouda and his fantastic performance that earned a standing ovation from the Chelsea fans.
Malouda ran the show on Saturday, had plenty of the ball and although he scored he had a part to play in two of the other goals with sublime crosses for Alex to head home in the first half to put us 1-0 up and Didier Drogba header at the far post from point blank range after another superb Malouda cross.
West Ham to their credit worked hard and made life difficult for Chelsea. It was West Ham who created the first clear cut chance of the game as the ball was pulled back to Ilan 8 yards out smack bang in the middle of the goal and he shot over the bar when he should of scored.
We took the lead after a Malouda corner was cleared back out to him and he floated a cross to the on rushing Alex who beat his marker and scored with a powerful header. It looked comfortable for Chelsea at this stage as we were dominating possession. As predicted West Ham would always work hard and make a game of it and with their hardest working player on the pitch in Chelsea old boy Scott Parker they did just that.
No one would of expected what was to happen next. A throw in down our right hand side was taken square across the body of Parker into the middle of the pitch. Just as he is being put under pressure the ball pitches up and from 30 yards out Parker hits a volley high over Turnbull's head into the net to make it 1-1. You could of had Cech, Hilario and Turnbull in goal standing next to each other and they wouldn't of had a chance!. Great strike to make it 1-1.
Just before half time another Malouda cross this time to the pushed forward Ferriera was spot on and his header went straight to the arms of Rob Green in goal. Half time 1-1.
No changes at the start of the second half and its pretty much the same as Chelsea dominate possession and Malouda heavily involved in our attacking play once more. In the 55th minute another Malouda cross is the difference. This time he floats a perfect cross to Drogba to head home from 2 yards. 2-1 Chelsea.
Chelsea continue to knock on the door and after the goal goes in the fight seems to evaporate from West Ham. Its all Chelsea now and Green makes a save from Alex as Terry follows up and hits the side netting. Joe Cole comes on for Anelka on 65 mins. Mikel shoots just wide on 73 mins and then the Malouda hits one for himself. He comes inside and collects the ball, steps towards the edge of the box and cuts back onto his left foot dead centre of the pitch, he strikes it hard and low into the bottom corner, Green no chance and its 3-1 Chelsea.
Zhirkov comes on for Ivanovic on 79 mins and shortly after Lampard hits the post!. On 86 minutes Carlo Ancelotti gives Malouda the chance to receive a warm reception from the fans as he comes off for Kalou. A standing ovation well deserved for Malouda.
Then the fourth goal goes in. Lampard collects the ball in midfield and comes forward. He has time and space and 25 yards out he strikes the ball low down to Green's right hand side. He makes a meal of the saves and the ball comes loose. Drogba is on it like a flash and hits home to make it 4-1.
A great result for Chelsea and a good performance ahead of the big game this Tuesday. Let's hope we get the same performance and result!

OFF TOPIC: DAVID BECKHAM OUT OF THE WORLD CUP
I apologise now for going completley off topic tonight but I feel as an England Football Fan the need to post about the blow for David Beckham tonight while playing for AC Milan. Beckham has done in his Achillies Tendon and is out of the World up!
Forget the sides he has played for. Forget his passion for United. This is about a man who deep down every single English Football Fan will hold a respect for. A player who has gone on record to state that playing for his country is the Ultimate Honour. A player who has made a point of moving from the USA on a temporary transfer to Italy so he could still be considered for what was his swan song at the World Cup. A player who's desire at the age of 34 is still so strong to play for his country.
This is a massive blow for Beckham and is dominating the headlines tonight. Beckham I am gutted for you, I really am.

For a few days now the speculation about Joe Cole and his Chelsea future has grown and become more intense with rumours that he has been offered a pittence at Chelsea, Man United want him, Liverpool are interested and also Spurs. So like the rest of you, I was delighted with Carlo Ancelotti's press conference yesterday when questioned about Joe Cole's contract.
Ancelotti said:
"Contracts are not my problem but technically I think he has to stay here 100%, He's keeping a very good mental attitude. Even when he's substitute he doesn't lose his confidence, he doesn't lose his mental attitude, he works very hard. He's an important player for us. He helps his team-mates and he could play other important games!".
Its good to hear that he rates him at least as it has seemed that he has dropped down the pecking order after not featuring at all against Stoke with Kalou picked ahead of him. Joe being Joe will always put the effort in and work hard. He loves his football and he loves Chelsea and it seems that the relationship between the two of them isn't as bad a people have made out.
I asked the question a long time ago and I still stand by what I said even though he hasn't featured much lately. I asked the question, "Is Joe Cole the key to our success?" and if he gets a run in the side in this important stage of the season then he just might prove me right!.

PREVIEW:
Here's a question for you Chelsea Fans. When was the last time West Ham won an away game in the Premier League?. I can tell you, back in August when they beat Wolves 2-0. Ever since that game they have struggled away from home and this has been their downfall and the reason as to why they are where they are in the League.
West Ham come to the Bridge with Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola under pressure with two new owners looking for quick results to turn the club round from serious decline and remain in the Premier League. For Zola it will be no easy task. Since they have played Chelsea, West Ham have played 5 away games and have drawn 2 and lost 3 of them.
They face a Chelsea side and a Manager who are in no doubt about whats required tomorrow and for the rest of the Premier League campaign. Its make or break time for Ancelotti and with Inter Milan around the corner on Tuesday these two games will be pivitol to our season. Ancelotti has come under fire after the defeats at Inter Milan and especially Man City and rightly so in my opinion.
The focus tomorrow is firmly in getting the job done for Chelsea and right now (how many times have I said this so far this season) I will take a 1-0 win. I just hope that Ancelotti gets his tactics and selection right for the game. I have expressed concerns about Ancelotti and his selections recently and hope that he makes the right decisions to ensure we get the win.
It won't be an easy game though as proved the case the in first game at West Ham earlier in the season where the sides drew 1-1.
TEAM NEWS:
Chelsea.
Chelsea welcome back Michael Ballack and Juliano Belletti back into the squad after suspension. Zhirkov is available once more while Ricardo Carvalho faces a fitness test on a calf strain. Turnbull comes into the side in goal as Hilario is out along with Petr Cech.
West Ham.
West Ham welcome back Benni McCarthy and Daniel Gabbidon from injury into the squad. Faubert and Ilunga are struggling to be fit for the game.
THE OPPOSITION.
The Goal Threat: I just can't see West Ham causing us too many problems. Carlton Cole will look to come back to the Bridge and put in a performance and with Diamanti always a threat from set plays its important we keep them quiet.
Midfield: One thing you can say about West Ham is that they have players that will work hard for each other. Chelsea old-boy Scott Parker will be running round working his arse off like normal and will be snapping into tackles to win the ball back. Mark Noble is another player who looks to get on the ball and create, not so sure about his defensive capabilities I have to say, so let's hope he has the majority of his possession within his own half.
Jack Collison I have to say, looks a real prospect and has a good touch on him. It's unclear if Zola will go with a 5 man midfield and play with Cole up front as he played with 2 up against United and lost 3-0. Added to their midfield are two players that I can't say I have ever really noticed affecting games with note and thats Kovac and Behrami. They will no doubt put in the work ethic as Zola and Clarke come back to Chelsea to cause an upset.
Defence: This is West Ham's weak link and their fans will more than likely agree. Matthew Upson can't do it all on his own and has been left exposed by the players around him. I have to say I am not sure he is as good as the press/media make him out to be and he will have a fight on his hands tomorrow up against Didier.
As mentioned earlier, Daniel Gabbidon may come back into the side or it will be Tomkins along side him. Again, a player haven't really heard much of and that says alot in the Premier League. Their full backs will look to get forward and with Ilunga and Faubert facing a fitness battle Spector, again another over rated player in my eyes) could deputise.
For me their main weakness, as was exposed last week against Bolton is crosses into the box. They struggle against the Aerial threat and against Drogba this could be a real problem. West Ham aren't a big side and will struggle against the height we have that comes up for set plays.
Goalkeeper: Rob Green is another for me that maybe is slightly more over-rated than people believe. If he played for a side in the top 4 it maybe a different story, but he obviously has talent as Capello rates him. He will be pivitol in their quest for survival and tomorrow as I believe he will come up against a barrage tomorrow and thats no-disrespect to West Ham.
THE CHELSEA VERDICT:
Goalkeeper: There is no question if you are come to Chelsea tomorrow and Turnbull is in goal you will want to test him. He needs to be alert on set plays and for any free-kicks in and around the box.
Defence: I would like Carlo Ancelotti to stick with the same back four that played Stoke. Alex should stay in the side next to John Terry. I hope Ferreira keeps his place as he played well and Ivanovic to continue on the right as he has impressed there all season. These two could be very important tomorrow as I believe West Ham will play narrow and compact in midfield with little width at all. If we can get these two up and down the wings we will cause West Ham problems without question.
Midfield: Now like the rest of you, with Ballack back in contention and Deco seeming to be fit its a question of how Ancelotti approaches the game with his tactics tomorrow. Does he play three up front, a 4-Diamond-2 or the bloody Christmas Tree formation?. I think Malouda has to play. He provides a balance down the left. Mikel will play in the holding role. Lampard will play as normal and could have a big game tomorrow. I predict Ballack will come into the side alongside Lampard.
The Goal Threat: Didier will play down the middle again and provide Upson with a major test. Anelka will more than likely (again?) play next to him or wide right and Malouda left side of the three. West Ham could be in for a torrid time tomorrow.
FINAL VERDICT:
I can see West Ham making life difficult for Chelsea tomorrow but it will depend on how their legs last in midfield as Chelsea will dominate possession at Stamford Bridge. If Chelsea score early its curtains for West Ham. Again, no disrespect to West Ham, but taking into consideration their awful record away from home and our home record (apart from Citeh the other week) I can only see a Chelsea win tomorrow. The question will be "By how many goals exactly?" Would be nice to see Joe Cole involved and to nick a goal.

I am reading reports today that Roman Abramovich has decided to ring the changes at Chelsea with regards to player contracts in light of the money that has been blown away on past players. Its been openly reported (here ) that Chelsea have lost approx £70m in salaries paid to players who have contributed very little. Juan Sebastien Veron, Hernan Crespo and Andrei Shevchenko have been mentioned in this report and if rumours are to be believed, Roman has decided enough is enough.

Contract talks begin for Anelka
Breaking unconfirmed news on SkySports this hour is that Chelsea have opened negotiations with Nicolas Anelka for a new 2-year contract with the club. This is great news for the club as we look to maintain our squad and quality we have. If Chelsea play Anelka through the middle up front then we have someone who is World-Class without question. The problem is if Ancelotti continues to deploy him wide of a three man attack!. In my view he doesn't do a good enough job.

Not really alot to report today around the web at the moment. There are still ongoing rows about John Terry and Carlos Tevez as reported and argued here on the Chelsea Blog as it gets a little bit heated to say the least!
Miroslav Stoch is a wanted man after his exploits for FC Twente this season.

From Stamford Bridge to Wembley! The Chelsea Football FanCast #108
On this week’s show, sticking it up Stoke to get a Wembley semi! Plus Jez Walters from CFC Net talks about the CFC Net website and takes the “60 Second Fan” challenge, as well as our match awards, “Goal of the Month”, “Dear Mart”, a classic song or two and “You’re on CFFC”!
The lads celebrate our seemingly annual trip to Wembley as Chelsea put a spanner in the Potter’s wheel. A thorough and professional job is done on Stoke and their aerial bombardment repelled. We are particularly delighted that John Terry silenced the Stoke boo boys – all together now: “John Terry, knocked you out!!”

Todays papers and media reports are mainly focused on the Chelsea v Stoke game yesterday and John Terry's celebration. As soon as John Terry scored and showed off his armband to the Chelsea fans you were always going to read about it in todays papers. The main focus on the coverage is that JT has thanked the fans once again for their support and it was his way of showing them he is still our Captain.
Ray Wilkins has also called for the abuse that JT suffers these days to stop. He says that it has run its course now and should stop. The problem is, football fans are fickle as we all know and I can't see it stopping anytime soon.
In relation to the whole JT thing once more, I have been an interested reader of the following article on the UK's SUN Newspaper website about Carlos Tevez. Remember Tevez came out in defence of Wayne Bridge and accused Terry of having "No Morals or Moral code!" Well it seems that its a pot calling the kettle black situation as Tevez has been caught with a Model (so reported on the Sun website) while the mother of his premature baby is back in Argentina! Now isn't that strange! You can read the article here.
There are also plenty of rumours circulating in the Press following on from the reports around Joe Cole's contract and his failure to break into the Chelsea side. Again he is being linked with United and Spurs if he doesn't manage to negotiate a new deal and as a result Chelsea are being linked with the impressive winger (for Everton anyway) Landon Donovan. Donovan has been a hit with Everton since he arrived on his loan deal from the LA Galaxy.
Its a week that Chelsea have free to get people rested, get our tactics and formations right for two big games ahead of us now. West Ham at home this weekend with United now behind two points ahead of us, so its a must win game and of course Jose Mourinho brings his Inter side to Stamford Bridge for the second leg of the Champions League tie in which we are behind after the first leg.
Inter were held to a 0-0 draw for the third time in four games in Serie A this weekend.

Chelsea 2-0 Stoke. Alex shines in Chelsea win & Villa in the Semi's.
In what could of proved to be a difficult tie today Chelsea eased past Stoke with goals from Frank Lampard and John Terry. It was a game that would test Chelsea up against the Rory Delap long throw and you have to say overall Chelsea dealt with it professionally and did well. Apart from a slight blip in the first half that led to Jon Obi Mikel clearing off of the line after a half clearance fell to Whitehead, Chelsea looked comfortable until the closing stages when the un-worked Hilario saved with his feet from Ricardo Fuller at his near post.
I was pleased to see Alex and Ferriera come into the side at Centre Back and Left back and they both had great games and provided a much better balance to our defence. Alex was outstanding and deservedly so, won the Man of the Match award from the TV Panel covering the game.
Our midfield three consisted of Mikel who had another sound game and this time played the full match to provide late stability in front of our defence, Frank Lampard who did the simple things well, scored a great goal and set up JT with his from a corner and Malouda, who was busy all game and offered us width on the left and have to say worked well with Ferreira.
Up front once again was Didier through the middle with Kalou and Anelka either side. Drogba had an in and out game for me. At times was his usual threat but also drifted out of the game. Anelka played better today than in recent weeks in the same position. He had to clear chances that he dragged wide and on another day would of scored. Kalou had a busy game also, always posed a threat running at their defence and did well.
Apart from the clearance off the line, we coped with every single Delap throw and ball into the box from corners and although at times Hilario seems all over the place, he was never put under any pressure at all. Chelsea did really well today. We played well, attacked Stoke well and put in a professional performance. Lampard took his goal well. A half cleared cross fell to JT beyond the back post, he took a touch and teed it up for Lamps, who struck from 20 yards out with a deflection that flew past Sorensen.
Our second goal came from a Lampard corner. JT was forever in a battle at set plays with Robert Huth who made his return to Stamford Bridge as Captain of Stoke in the absence of Shawcross. As Lampard's corner came in JT lost Huth and headed towards goal. Once more another deflection took the ball past Sorensen and into the top corner. Chelsea 2-0 up and looking comfortable.
JT's celebration said it all as he lowered his Captains Armband to the fans to prove how much it means to him and he certainly enjoyed that one!.
As I have mentioned earlier, Hilario was called into action in injury time as Fuller spun in the box and shot low to the near post, Hilario had his angles right and made a great save with his foot low down. That was it really and Stoke will come away from the game feeling that they could of offered more of a threat today, but I believe that was down to the way we played and how solid we were defensively today. Alex in place of Carvalho is a question that we are all asking at the moment and put forward his case in impressive style today.
A great win and performance today and we move into our fourth Semi-Final in five years as we have been drawn against Aston Villa at Wembley. A chance for revenge for the defeat earlier in the season?.

This afternoon its Chelsea v Stoke in the FA Cup Quarter final at the Bridge and a time for Chelsea and Carlo Ancelotti in particular to clear their heads and start afresh. In a week where we have suffered a defeat to Man City, the focus on John Terry and England, more reports about Ashley Cole's reported break down, and Man United regaining the lead in the title race and Arsenal now level on points with us, its time to put in a good performance and get our season back on track!
Stoke come to the Bridge looking for a cup upset and today will be no easy game by any means. Alot is made of Stoke and their long-throw weapon they have in Rory Delap but there are much more of a side than that. Matthew Etherington is always a danger down the left hand side, they have forwards that can score goals and work hard for each other, but with Shawcross missing after being sent off against the Arsenal for that tackle they won't be as strong at the back and that could be their weakness today.
If it proves to be their weakness then we must take advantage, play on it and make our pressure count today. It will of course once more depend on Ancelotti's take on the game today and how he sends the side out. I just hope that he see's what I and other see and reverts back to our tried and trusted formation of 4-3-3 today (with proper wingers) or even a 4-4-2.
Chelsea have Ballack and Belletti out suspended after being sent off last week. Essien, Ashley Cole and Bosingwa are all long-term injuries and are out. Deco makes a return to the side and even though I won't be sad to see him go it could be his chance to show us finally what he is made of today. Especially with Ballack out he can come into the side and slot straight into the midfield next to Lampard and in front of Mikel.
I would like to see Turnbull given a start in goal. Ferreira come in at left back, Alex come into the side next John Terry in the middle with player of the season contender Ivanovic at right back. Mikel, Deco, Lampard as a 3 in the middle, with Malouda left, Didier down the middle and Joe Cole right. Which means Anelka and Carvalho would be rested on the bench. I think this formation has the right balance and we have a natural threat down both wings with Malouda reverting back to his familar position.
Or we could even play with a 4-4-2 formation. Same GK and back four. With Malouda left, Lampard and Mikel in the middle and Joe right wing, with Drogba and Anelka up front. Again, would provide the side with natural width, which is what I feel we have lacked in recent weeks.
Ahead of the game Ray Wilkins spoke, he said:
'It's big for us; we want to do really well. We love it and we want to be at the final with nearly 100,000 people at Wembley in May. It's fantastic.''The desire is there, whether we win is something else because you come across very tough competition along the way, but we want to win everything we play in. We go tooth and nail to win them all. In the Carling Cup we always play strong sides and we give every trophy we play in the credit it deserves. Today is no exception.'
Its good to see that we value the FA CUP as highly as we do. Look at United, Liverpool and Arsenal who are all out of the competition. It would be nice to retain the Cup this season along with the other two we are going for. With a clear week ahead to work on training ground after todays game, its important we get back to winning ways and our tried and trusted formation. If we play with width today we will win the game as thats how confident I am in playing with Joe Cole and Malouda in those positions.
At the end of the day a 1-0 win will do me as it means we are into the Semi Finals. The thing is being a Chelsea fan (and I have said this before) we have become accustomed to much more than that, so let's hope we all get what we are looking for!.

Chelsea have suffered another injury blow with the news that Jose Bosingwa will need a further operation on the knee injury that has kept him out for most of the season.
Bosingwa has been out of action since October and the news of further surgery required will mean he will also miss the this summers World Cup in South Africa for Portugal.
Its a massive blow to Chelsea and also Portugal and Bosingwa will regard this season as a disaster. Luckily enough for Chelsea Branislav Ivanovic has come in and done a great job in his absence.
We wish Jose all the best and hope that he makes a full and speedy recovery and ready for next season!

Solid and pleasing performance from John Terry
England beat Egypt 3-1 in front of over 80,000 people at Wembley last night, but as a Chelsea fan and bearing in mind the continued focus that surrounds John Terry, I was pleased with his performance. The boo-boys were evident at times during the game but I am pleased to report that it was confined to a minimal section of the crowd.
There was no question all eyes were on John Terry and the constant camera focus on him in the tunnel behind Steven Gerrard who took over as Captain in the absence of Rio Ferdinand, singing the National Anthem and throughout the game was no surprise.
I have to say, he played well apart from a slip early in the first half which was down to the pitch more than an error on his part, he looked somewhere near his commanding self. To me it looked like he had a spring in his step and he looked fully focused. He won his headers, won his tackles, stood up when he needed to rather than dive in to needless tackles and overall was our best defender. Whenever the camera was on him he was organising his defence which he normally does anyway as thats his game.
The quotes before the game from Rooney, Gerrard and Capello had given him some support and being amongst the England squad looks like has done him the world of good. Let's hope all this continued bollocks now calms down and we can get back to playing football.
England came from a goal behind in the second half and won with two goals from Peter Crouch and another from Shawn Wright-Phillips.

Chelsea Gate 17: March Bulletin
THE LEAGUE ... OUR BREAD AND BUTTER
Well that wasn't in the script now was it? Few would have predicted Chelsea's spectacularly shocking defeat at home to Manchester City. Perhaps the 4-2 loss and ill-discipline that accompanied it will serve to galvanise team morale as we head into the final quarter of the season ... with Arsenal coming up hard on the rails with a comparatively easy set of fixtures, it needs to. The Blues next league game on March 13th sees Chelsea legend Franco Zola bring West Ham to Stamford Bridge, the Hammers are enjoying a mini-revival ... let's hope Super Frank and the boys put an end to it.
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE we're having a laugh.
Internationale at the San Siro was a great experience. Chelsea were hard done by, losing 2-1 and missing out on what was a blatant penalty. Jose will bring his side to the Bridge for the Second Leg on March 16th with his tail up, it's going to be an interesting night in SW6

FA Cup Round 5
Having beaten Cardiff City 4-1, The Blues will now play Stoke City in the quarterfinals at Stamford Bridge this coming Sunday. Chelsea should be able to match Stoke in their physical approach to the game and the Potters will be missing arguably their star player, Ryan Shawcross, who was sent off for that dreadful tackle on Gooner Aaron Ramsay last weekend. Wembley beckons for the Blues ... come on let's have it.

All eyes on Wembley as England take on Egypt.
All eyes will be on Wembley tonight as England take on Egypt in our first friendly of the year in the build up to the World Cup. John Terry is set to start tonight and could face the England boo-boys in light of the events of recent weeks. I asked the question on here whether or not John should play tonight and have been encouraged by the reports and quotes coming out of the England camp.
Fabio Capello, Wayne Rooney and also Steven Gerrard have spoken to Press ahead of the game and its nice to see that the team atmosphere seems to remain unchanged under Capello. We all know JT had the Captain's armband taken away by Capello, but Wayne Rooney spoke the other day about JT and the fact that without the armband he will remain a leader.
Rooney said:
"John Terry is a great captain and a great leader, Whether he has the armband or not he will still be a great leader for us at the World Cup. I've been in the team when a few players have been booed at Wembley and it's not nice, it doesn't send the right message. I hope he gets a good reception!".
Steven Gerrard said:
"Alot has been said about whats gone on off the pitch and the players private lives, its time to move forward and get behind the team as I am told the World Cup is 100 days away and we are all as one moving forward".
Fabio Capello said:
"I have told him (JT) he has to be the player as if he is Captain. I spoke to the players and told them to recreate the spirit of the team and we have to try and really focus. I am really happy as I saw the same team that played in November. The fans have to support us. You have to understand that off the pitch some players are not so good but on the pitch its different!. We wear the England shirt its really important for us that they help us (the fans). We have to forget about everything that happened".
Inspiring words from the Manager and some key England players. No matter what there will always be a section of a 75,000 crowd that won't listen and will boo the players. Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard have already been the subject of the boo-boys and I have no doubt that a section of the crowd tonight will boo John Terry. Its about how he reacts that is the most important for me.
Without question he is the best English Centre Half we've got on his game with (in my opinion) Jaime Carragher coming in a close second (can never understand why he has never played alongside JT or ever been considered) so its important that he plays well and has the same mentality tonight as if he is Captain.
Let's hope he plays well and can ignore the barracking he will get from certain sections of the crowd.

Joe Cole gets the wake up call from Capello
We all know that Joe Cole hasn't recovered his form as yet for Chelsea since his return from the knee injury that ruined his season at Southend last year, so much so that he has not featured in the England set up since he has come back. Yesterday Fabio Capello made it clear to Joe that he's got some work to do but hasn't shut the door.
He said,
'I saw the games Joe Cole played after he returned from injury and he played always so-so, but the last game he played very well, He has to play more games like the last and after he will be here possibly.'
Basically he is telling us exactly how it is. Joe hasn't been good enough and we all know that. Maybe its because he is trying to get his trust and confidence back in his knee so he knows he can play 100%, maybe its because Carlo Ancelotti hasn't really given him an effective 90 minutes as he keeps dragging him off.
One thing is for sure, Joe Cole is pure class and has a quality that alot of people simply haven't got. He has a natural ability in abundance as we all know and can produce on the world stage. Its obviously now down to him to get his head down and work hard as he always does and get into the starting 11 for Ancelotti. Of course that all depends on the way Ancelotti plays as we all know at the moment its not working.
If Joe can force his way in, take confidence in getting the start, then I am sure he can produce and will be on board that plane to South Africa.
He's here, he's there!

Carlo Ancelotti has spoken after the Manchester City game, our second defeat in the Premier League in the last 3 games and I am not buying it at all. Thank god we can focus on the FA Cup at the weekend because at the moment we are awful in the League. But, once more it seems as though Ancelotti has this "shrug of the shoulder outlook" on our defeat and performance which is not what I personally want to see.
He said:
'There is no time for being angry now,' says the Italian. 'We did a bad performance but we have to look forward. 'It is a difficult moment when you lose a game but we have the possibility to prepare well for the next game and have a good direction. Now we want to show good direction against Stoke in the FA Cup. We have confidence in our play and we want to maintain this. It is better to forget immediately.'
We lost balance when we were on goal down and we conceded two goals from counter-attacks. Usually this team never concedes a goal from counter-attacks. But sometimes this can happen. We put too many players up front but it was not a necessity because we had 45 minutes to win this game. Discipline went after we lost balance and concentration. We made some mistakes but the red card of Belletti was a situation of play. Ballack could have avoided that foul.'
Ancelotti says we have confidence in our play. Is he watching the same game I am?. Where is the confidence he is talking about. Looking at our last 14 League games dating back to 5th December when we lost at Eastlands we have only won 7 of them. Does that show confidence in our play to you?. Granted we have only lost 2 games out of 14 BUT that also includes 4 draws against sides we should be beating with the players and squad we have.
Since that defeat we have lost against Everton away along with the defeat against City at the weekend. Its the draws we have suffered against Everton at home (where we have only ourselves to blame), West Ham away (where stupid mistakes cost us again), Birmingham away (we run out of ideas in the final third) and Hull away (we get found out defending a set play once more) that has cost us this season.
So to me that isn't a confidence through the team. That shows that we are making stupid mistakes in games we should take the three points in. Shows that we are lacking in ideas when it comes to the final third and I believe thats down to his team selection and tactics/formation.
He got found out against Inter Milan last week and once more on Saturday in two high profile games.
I hate to say it but way back in the Summer I posted on here that the "Jury is out" as far as Ancelotti is concerned and granted I maybe going over the top at the moment about Carlo, but think about it. Am I really blowing things out of proportion?.
I sincerley hope like the rest of you that the side can pull it together and replicate our fantastic start to the season. This game at Arsenal away was the last game we played of our great start and we have been in a slow decline ever since. Our decline in form coincides with the fact that we miss Essien without question, but still we should of not dropped points in 3 of those 4 games.
Of course all the goings on surrounding certain players off the field has not helped the club in any way at all and no matter what front they are showing in Press Conferences etc, it is affecting them and our performances in the last three weeks.
I really really hope I am wrong for the remainder of the season. The evidence is there to see. We are not playing with confidence at all. We are at times struggling through games and dropping important points where we shouldn't be. The only solice we have at the moment is the fact that we are still (believe it or not!) a point clear of United in the Premier League and three points clear of the side to look out for in my opinion Arsenal.
But, our run in till the end of the season is the most difficult out of the three sides. We are faced with games at the Bridge against: West Ham, Villa, Bolton, Stoke and Wigan. Away games at Blackburn, Portsmouth, Man Utd, Tottenham and Liverpool.
We need to regroup ahead of the Stoke game this weekend. Then after that game we have a clear week to prepare and get things right for the next two games that are now massive. West Ham at home (which you would never think of a massive game for us) and Inter Milan after.
This is a difficult time for Chelsea fans at the moment. We all know we aren't playing well and we know its because of the formation and substitutions that he makes to change a game that no one can understand. Let's hope someone speaks up, makes him see where the problem lies and we get back on track because if this continues I can see us finishing third this season and we all know THAT AIN'T GOOD ENOUGH!

Deco wants to quit Chelsea - Bye Bye!
(Photo/Headline taken from http://www.thesun.co.uk/)
"I want to go back to Brazil, I still have a couple of good years of high-level football in me but I want to be near my kids. Ideally I'd like to go after the World Cup and I've been talking to Chelsea about it. It will all depend on Chelsea – if the club release me or let me go on loan. I'm not going to rush to choose a new club but it's time to get back."
All I can say is that he should go back. His personal reasons are justified as family comes first but from a footballing standpoint the blokes hasn't done a stroke at Chelsea. He started off with a great performance against Portsmouth at the Bridge as he scored in our 4-0 win. Who would of thought at the time that this was the best we would ever see of him and he would never again feature as effective.
Its a case of another big name player from abroad that has come to the Premiership and has struggled. I have said time and time again this season that Joe Cole gets the nod for me over Deco and even though Joe has struggled to re-discover the form we know he can produce, he still gets the nod for me.
I say let him go. What do you fellow Chelsea fans think?

Should JT play for England on Wednesday?
I have just been reading this piece written by Stan Collymore (who as we all know has had it his own domestic issues during his playing career) and was wondering who thinks the same or who thinks that maybe JT should sit out Wednesday's England game against Egypt at Wembley?.
Don't get me wrong fellow blues. I am right behind JT as our Captain, Our Leader and Our Legend on the pitch, but let's face it, he hasn't played great in the last few weeks and I feel that on Wednesday night if he takes to the field he will be villified by the fans and no one wants to see or hear that.
We all know what the so-called press did to David Beckham in 98'. The are doing the same to John Terry now and will continue on this witch hunt for a long while yet. JT finds himself in the situation now where if England don't win the World Cup then its his fault, If he stands down from the squad like Bridge and we don't win it, then its his fault again. If England win the World Cup then that's the only way in which he will come out of the tournament with some credit, but knowing the English Press it will be everyone BUT him.
So is it an idea for Terry to lie low for this week or should he play?
What do you think?

John Terry & Wayne Bridge
We all know whats happened. We have read everywhere the opinions of the press and other sites. But I want your view.
This is what happened before Kick off.
So I am asking was Wayne Bridge right to ignore JT? Was the crowd right to boo Wayne Bridge? Is Mouth-almighty and the most annoying dwarf in football Craig Bellamy right to say what he said post match about John Terry? Is John Terry right to hit back at Bellamy?. Finally do you agree with the press that this whole situation has affected JT and his peformances.
Chelsea fans what your view?

The boys feel somewhat cheated after the Nightmare at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea’s poor schoolboy performance and a mugging by Man City’s Tevez and Bellamy (Baaaaahhh)!
Much moaning on the FanCast this week as the CFFC crew dissects a bad day at HQ. Mike Dean, no width, no pace, schoolboy defending and no energy are the key villains other than Tevez and Bellamy. At least the loyal supporters who stayed to the bitter end did their bit as the team gave it a go in the last 15 minutes with a 3:1:4 formation!
Tough calls for Man of the Match and Guinness moments – even Mike Dean gets an ironic nomination, but a rip roaring Eng-er-land gets the nod in Chant of the Match, and the (Proper) Chels support gets the Celery moment for their defiant singing in the face of the Wayne Bridge boo boys and early leavers.
And on a similar theme, a terrace favourite featuring a certain vegetable better known as a tickling stick is sung to cheer us all up in “We’re out to show the World the way to sing!” We also look back at a more honourable defeat in Milan last Wednesday but have a hilarious ‘Tale from Milano’ from Paul and Ross (Paulo Rossi collectively!) to enjoy.
All this plus Dr Martin giving us some much needed therapy in Dear Mart answering questions on smallest Chelsea players, Malouda’s role as left back and inevitably, do we care about Wayne Bridge? Finally, in “You’re on CFFC”, Chidge has some unintelligible and hilarious posts from somewhere in the Far East, San Diego. Arizona, Australia and Hastings!
