The Chelsea Daily Drivel is a daily update of all the stories concerning our club, the rumours, the opinions and more....

The Neymar saga rumbles on!, Cech rubbishes any links with Jose Mourinho, Carlo denies any deal for Luiz and has stated Bruma will replace Carvalho in the first team squad, Madrid in for Drogba?, Drogba to grace Stamford Bridge for a long time yet!, Chelsea not finished with Begovic and Bruce Buck makes an appearance on the Chelsea Drivel Giggle!

First today to Franco Di Santo and it seems that Wigan want to do business with Chelsea sooner rather than later. With rumours rife that Jason Scotland is about to be sold Wigan have made their move and Di Santo's agent flew into see boss Roberto Martinez to conclude what looks like to being a loan deal for the Argentinian hitman. More to follow in the coming days on this one!.

Now to Neymar and the transfer saga that has been dominating the rumour mill over the last couple of weeks, but also took a turn last week as it had been reported that Santos were about to report Chelsea to FIFA for supposedly "tapping up" their player.

To begin with over the weekend Neymar himself has stated that he has bot signed any agreement with Chelsea at all after Carlo Ancelotti had commented on the player in his press conference at Stamford Bridge before the West Brom game this past weekend. Neymar had said:
"I'm very happy to be remembered by a great team, but Santos is my place at the moment, I want to stay at Santos, win more titles here and, who knows, leave in the future. That whole story that people are saying about Chelsea did not reach me until now. I don't know anything about it."

This was then followed by a report from Brazil that had said that Legend Pele had added his voice to the whole saga and has urged Neymar to stay where he is. Pele is reported to have told the player to concentrate on his development in his homeland before he moves across to Europe. (Source:Goal.com)

So there you have it, the player has said he wants to stay at Santos. Its reported that we made a £17m bid for the player and this was rejected and Pele has added his opinion to the situation. Where do Chelsea go from here? Stayed tuned for more in the coming days before the transfer window closes.

Now to Petr Cech and it was great to see him make a return to the side after all the goalkeeping problems we have had in preseason without him. Over the course of the weekend reports had surfaced in the media that he was considering a move to link up with Ricardo Carvalho and Jose Mourinho in Madrid. Cech has denied reports that he has been in contact with Jose and questioned these reports which is great news for Chelsea. He said:
"There are more of us here who were with Chelsea while Mourinho was in charge. So the media could speculate about many players. You should never say never, but we have not spoken with Jose. If you take a look at Real's squad, you see that the goalkeeper's position is the only place where they have not had any reason to change anything.

Now to another player Chelsea have been heavily linked with over the summer and that's another Brazilian and this time its David Luiz. Carlo has spoken about Luiz and has ruled out any move for the player and has admitted that it was disappointing to see Carvalho leave. Carlo said:
"Everyone was disappointed about Carvalho leaving because he had six very good years with this club and did a fantastic job last year, But his desire was to leave this club, to try a new emotion and new experience. And we have in our academy a fantastic centre-back (Bruma) and we want to give him more possibility to play.

I didn't try to persuade Riccy to stay because that was a decision that he took at the end of the last year. The last game of the last year, he said to me that he would like to leave this club and for this reason, he went to Real Madrid.

Am I after David Luiz? No. We have Terry, Ivanovic, Alex and Bruma, so we are OK. And I won't go into the market for a central defender."

Great news for Jeffrey Bruma who is one to watch for the future. Bruma who had featured in our pre season games, also had received his first ever call up to the Dutch national squad for last weeks game so the future is looking very bright for the Chelsea youngster. It's a massive boost for the player to hear that Chelsea are not looking to buy someone to come in but have him in mind to step up. Let's hope he makes the step, plays well and is a part of our defence in years to come.

One story that appeared over the weekend was ridiculous to say the least. Reports appeared stating that Real Madrid where about to bid for Didier Drogba. The figures quoted were in the region of £10m for Didier and is just rubbish if you ask me. It had stated that Jose thought that the chance to link up with him at Madrid would be too much for Drogba to turn down. Let's hope it is and has been total rubbish and purely papertalk.

Still with Drogba and despite the report above, he has stated that he wants to grace Stamford Bridge for years to come. Speaking after he scored a hat-trick against West Brom in our 6-0 win, he said:
"I am better at 32 than I was six years ago, when I came here, I am scoring more goals, I am more calm, more relaxed on the pitch and it helps a lot. If I keep playing in a team like this I can plan maybe five more years. I was only 25 when I started at the highest level, so I feel young. I still love the pitch, running. I don't count the runs I make. Maybe in a year or two it will be different."

Apr. 25, 2010 - London, United Kingdom - epa02131532 Chelsea's Frank Lampard (R) scores their fifth goal past Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic (L) during this afternoons Premiership match 25 April 2010 at Stamford Bridge, London, Britain, 25 April 2010.

Now to Asmir Begovic. I had reported on here last week that Chelsea were looking at the Stoke keeper and will make a move after the situation we have with our backup keepers'. Stoke boss Tony Pullis had said that he was not for sale, but it appears that Chelsea do want to test his resolve with a bid of around £4.5m. It will be interesting to see what happens and if Pullis can hang onto his player once Chelsea come knocking. It will then be down to the player to decide whether he wants to come to Chelsea as Cech's understudy. More to follow..

Now to the Chelsea Drivel Giggle and I had to laugh at comments made by Bruce Buck the other day in his programme notes. Buck had spoken out after Joe Cole had made his comment when he signed for Liverpool that he had joined "The best club in England!". Buck retorted in the notes and said:
"Joe Cole has gone to a smallish club somewhere north of the M25."
Fantastic from our Chairman. It's seems Joe Cole was aware of these comments as his Mrs tweeted back via Twitter..
“I’m utterly astounded to hear what Bruce Buck put in today’s Chelsea programme! I’ll have you know he’s gone to a great team who love him and USE him.”
Of course we know Liverpool would use him in his "favoured" position so Joe goes and does this!...

  1. Love the giggle! I read that in the programme on the way home and was cracking up, his MRS can say what she wants. We all love Cole and banter is healthy, he gets used and then gets a 3 game ban, wise man.

  2. Man, poor Cole! Miss the bloke in all blue! I honestly hope things work out for him at Pool! Did not deserve that red, it was a yellow and heavy lecture at best!

As for Begovic, hope we get him, Turnbull and Hilario are just not up to League champion standards! Tough but true!
