Chelsea 4-0 Wolves - Strength in depth shows class

Despite the likes of Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard, Ricardo Carvalho, Branislav Ivanovic, Jose Bosingwa, Michael Ballack and Deco not featuring Chelsea stormed past Wolves with a 4-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea made easy work of the opposition as Florent Malouda, Michael Essien (2) and Joe Cole wrapped up the three points with ease as we kept our home form going and created a new record with our 12th straight win in all competitions, aswell as another clean sheet and John Terry moved above Dennis Wise into second in the record books for the amount of games he has captained the side.

With all the changes to the starting line up and the number of youngsters on the bench you could of easily been forgiven if you went for Chelsea to win by the single goal but after Malouda hit a beauty into the top corner from 20 yards we knew it would be a different story. Malouda came in on the left hand side of the Diamond midfield with Joe Cole behind the front two, Mikel in the holding role and Michael Essien pushed further forward to provide the balance and what an effect Essien had on the game. He scored two, hit the crossbar and made the keeper work as he went after his first hat-trick at Chelsea. But it wasn't to be but his contribution was immense.

His first goal was a free header from a corner swung in by Malouda and his second was a fired in low shot which to be fair the keeper should of done better with. But who cares, we were 3-0 up by half time and cruising. By the time Joe Cole scored our 4th it was time to rest some players. It was great to see Borini come on for more valuable experience and also the debut's for the much talked about Kakuta & Matic. It was Kakuta that everyone was watching due to the headlines that have been created recently but it was his skill that has the world talking. Within minutes of coming on he skinned the defender and blasted a shot low & into the side netting. But, it was this flash of brilliance that shows all of us that he could just be worth all the fuss in the future!

So it was an easy game for us. We continue to take the bull by the horns after the few defeats we suffered and if we continue to play like this then surely its going to be our year. There is the Arsenal to look forward to this weekend with hopefully, Lampard, Drogba, Ballack and Deco back in contention. The most important thing is that we keep the run going and make sure that when it comes to January the missing players will not affect us as we maintain our lead at the top of the table.

For now, any win is a win, but when we play like this, with the people we have missing the signs are very encouraging for Chelsea!!
